I just started retin A, and I have ordered the obagi. I was just wondering if I need the clear and the blender. It looks like they are the same thing to me. I don't have huge sundamage, but i do want to get rid of some hyperpigmentation. Is the whole deal with using both, that more is better Also, I was wondering if there has been much success with fine lines. I have dry, fair, thin skin with fine lines, and the lines are what I want to get rid of more than anything!!! I have seen a lot of great results for people with more oily skin, i am hoping I can get good results too |

hi,
without the blender and the clear, you might end up using retin-A for such a long time as compared to using the whole obagi line for your sin rejuvenation process.
take time to put some extra effort in using exfoderm as well. you do not need to put a big amount of retin-A with the blender since, the exforderm has glycolic properties stimulating the exfoliation process. it adds up to the peeling effect and drives obagi-clear to work down under your deepest corner of your skin to enhance the lightening process.
obagi clear has the hydroquinone compound which if used properly has the lightening effect. it is FDA approved and studies regarding its ability to create cancer is "non-conclusive". a word of advise though: a 4 percent hydroquinone is prescription strength. you my find it why some states will require you to purchase obagi clear with the dermatologist's advice.
remember that retinoid compounds (products with vitamin A derivatives like tretinoin and adapalene) and not to discount hydroquinone has a photosensitivity effect which triggers your skin to be a little but not-so-devastatingly sensitive to the sun's rays.
furthermore, this photosensitivity can otherwise excite your skin to protect itself more by inflammation (redness and swelling) and hyperpigmentation. that explains why, people who do not wear sunscreens who use these compounds end up with mottled face and darkened skin which we actually wanted to treat in the first place.
suncreen, sunscreen and lots of suncreen..
enjoy obagi and wait for six weeks to see the difference. |

thanks Asianpal!
that was very informative. I think I worded it wrong though. I meant to say, do I need both the obagi blender and the obagi clear? You also mentioned i should use the exfoderm, i know i am peeling alot on the retin A, will the exfoderm make me peel more, or get rid of the flakes faster? |

If you stick with Obagi and do your regimen, you will have fantastic results by the time you reach week 12! With Nu derm, use Professional C. WIth Serum C I don't think you need any more c |

As far as i can see u need to use the program in its entirety, i was going to do the same thing and only buy a few of the things but it seems u need them all. the one that is intersting is the sunfader which 4% hydroquinone with SPF 15. |

Someone asked the question since the blender and the clear have exactly the same ingredients, why do they have to use both at the same time? The answer did not address that question. They are identical and if I am using the clear at night, why do I have to put the blender over the clear? I know the sunfader has the same main ingredient as the clear, but since it has the 15 SPF, it makes sense to use both in the am. It seems a waste of money to use the clear and the blender at night. I have been using both, but since I am no longer getting the lightening effect (research shows that hydroquinine stops lightening after awhile and then it can actually do the reverse and cause dark patches), I think I'm going to stop using the clear at night and only use the blender, followed by the retin A. I am well into the second month and my skin looks great, but I don't peel anymore - even using the retin A every night. I am a little pink and nothing else. I'm wondering if its time for me to stop. I was told to use the products for a minimum of three months and that four months was ideal. Has anyone experienced their skin being totally normal after two months? Should my skin still be peeling or does this mean that I've reached all the benefits I'm going to get from using Obaji? |
