I have been reading a lot about people taking collagen supplements to good effect in the press recently and I'm sure a few of the girls on here do to. However most collagen is not suitable for vegetarians and so I'd like to know what others think I should do with my lifestyle, diet and what supplements to take to help my body maintain it's collagen levels. For example if I take Vitamin C and MSM would that assist my body in creating collagen?
Many thanks! |

I wouldn't worry about collagen supplements, most people don't take them. Yes vitamin c and msm will help your body to produce collagen, as will adequate amounts of protein. Using a protein supplement in a smoothie for breakfast can be a good way of boosting protein in your diet. I personally use whey protein in a smoothie a few times a week, but there are several vegan protein supplements available also. Extra protein can also boost metabolism and keep you feeling fuller for longer, which is why I have it for breakfast. |
