Don't think you can actually change the size of your pores but you can minimize their appearance. I find that by keeping them really clean makes them less noticeable. I've also found that since I started using JM Bioclear they look a lot smaller aswell. |

Thats because your pore size really can't change unfortunately. You have what you have. There are products with empy promises, but nothing can really shrink pores. Thats why they invented airbrushing for magazines.
For the rest of us, what you could look at doing is using a primer and using powder. I also found that when I used the Laura Mercier powder puff with loose powder it made my skin look flawless and no pores. But I still had them underneath. |

there must be a way to minimise pores, because they change over time. When i was in my late teens/ early twenties i had invisible pores. now they are bigger. so you would think if we can make our skin more youthful we could at least shrink our pores to how they once were. am i crazy? |

I think as you age your pore size does increase and also things like sun damage can make them appear larger. |

For me, Dr Hauschka Cleansing Cream is still the best way to deal with pore size. With continued use over about 2 weeks I saw fantastic results. This cleanser (though fairly involved) cleans gunk out of your pores and hence they appear much smaller. HTH |

Estrogen is the best at reducing pore size...you can get it from a compounding pharmacy (presumably with a prescription). I think it's the Estriol form of estrogen at .3%. There is some info on line. I've not tried this as I have melasma and am scared to death to put estrogen on my face for fear of making it worse/darker. |

I am curious about this as well. I have very large pores on my nose and if it really is impossible to decrease pore size (only minimize their appearance) then I'd like to know that for sure now so I won't be spending lots of money on products to help shrink pores if it's not possible anyway. I've just read so many posts from people saying Product X noticeable shrank their pores that I'm hoping maybe it is possible after all. |

Products with Mandelic acid have helped some people. Examples are Mama Lotion and if you google it, there are also other etailers who sell their own versions, e.g.www.gardenofwisdom.com. The effects are not so miraculous as to appear overnight or even in a few days. It takes some months of diligent application to see effects. It is like a gentle chemical peel. A lot of products which claim to reduce pore size do not have high enough concentration of active ingredients. Pore size wil increase with age inevitably as you have reduced collagen in your skin so the "walls of the craters will sag", so to speak. Cosmetic procedures such as chemical peels, laser rejuvenation, IPL will help but the effects are temporary and you will need to keep going back for more treatments (costing $$$$). |

Since i've been using 10% glycolic gel everynight i've noticed my pore size has decreased greatly. I still haven't been able to get rid of those gross blackheads though!!! Ugh.. I know getting a glycolic peel at the spa is great but i'm too lazy to go and do that lol. |

Keeping your skin clean would really help reduce pore size. That includes dirt and oil that gets trapped in your skin and stretching your pores.
You should also try steaming your face once in a while so that your pores would open up and release whatever is inside. And rememeber to exfoliate from time to time. |

Supposedly, it's NOT possible to reduce pore size, but mine have gone from noticeable in a mirror from 12" away, to barely noticeable in a 4 X magnifying mirror. So I say YES, you can reduce pore size.
The biggest change for me was noted when I started using a microfiber cloth vigorously twice a day. Unbelievable results! |

Has anyone tried those pore strips lately? Last time I tried them, which was years ago, I found that I broke out like crazy afterwards. |

Clear Skin Addict~
Did you use Biore nose strips/face strips? And if you did, do you wash your face after you take the strips off? Also, you should only leave the strips on for 10 mins or so just until it's dry.
Kassy~What kind of microfiber cloth are you using? Is it okay to use 2x day? I know I saw one on NCN's website, and I was tempted to buy it, but I didn't really know if it would be okay to use everyday.
So I guess the consensus is that pores cannot be minimized...m, did I just waste some money buying idealist pore minimizer???I've only used it a couple times when I remember at night. Only thing I've noticed is my face getting tighter, and I thought that meant my pores were getting smaller..I'll have to try this product out more rigorously. |

I got my microfiber cloths in 'Pep Boys Automotive'. Three 16 X 16 cloths for $6.99. They are awesome!
I use it quite vigorously on my clean wet face morning and evening. Not a clogged pore in sight. In fact, barely a pore in sight.
I won't be getting any more microfiber cloths from NCN for $12.95 any time soon. |

Kassy~
I'm getting flashbacks of California where there are Pep Boys...And I'm a little frightened...PEP BOYS!!! I can't believe it...Does it do the same thing as NCN's? And do you think Auto Zone would have them? I will search for them on their website... And again Kassy, you amaze me...Did I mention I'm frightened? How long have you been using these Pep Boys micro cloths? I know my bf will think I'm crazy for going to an auto place to buy 'face' products, I never usually step into one unless he drags me there. hehehe... |

I cleanse my face twice a day and make sure I use a non-comedogenic moisturiser. I also make sure I exfoliate regularly. This helps a lot. Before I started doing that I had pores the size of a house, but they have greatly decreased in size. Also, I did my first at-home microdermabrasion on Monday, and now my pores have almost disappeared!! |

Reducing the size of my pores is one of the last frontiers of my own skincare concerns I would love to address now that my skin is combo/oily instead of oily/acne prone. I've spent a lot of $$ on topicals that promise to reduce pore size and nothing works. I really don't think pore size can actually be reduced with any topical solution and genetics probably has a lot to do with it.
However, I DO keep them scrupulously clean and have minimized breakouts and seldom see any blackheads. Unfortunately, I have yet to find the makeup and primer that will actually make my skin appear smooth, those huge pores on my face still look like craters sigh..... Or maybe I'm the only one who notices them.
I did read a short blurb in the Fall-Winter 2007 issue of New Beauty magazine about a new procedure called Isolaz. It uses a combination of suction and laser to combat acne and initial studies indicate it actually reduces the size of pores. I just heard about this very recently and my research hasn't gone any farther than that. I don't see myself shelling out that kind of $$ for a cosmetic procedure, but it it ever comes down to a couple hundred dollars a whack for a one-time treatment with proven results, I just may change my mind about that. |

How funny, I received an email from a clinic in the UK yesterday promoting a 'new' treatment for acne and pore purification....it was Isolaz.
I had a quick look at the video on the site which was 'disgusting' you could see all the sebum coming out of the pores. It looks like it's a laser that combines a vacuum action. Looks interesting anyway, but I wonder how long the results last. Surely the pores would just fill up again soon after. |

You can use BHA to reduce the blackheads, such as Paula's Choice 1% or 2% BHA products. The microfiber cloths also help to prevent them from coming back. |

Since I have been using the Clarisonic the pores on my chin appear smaller. Has any Clarisonic users noticed the same regarding pores? In the past I got one or two pimples on my chin a few times a month. Since using the C not one. I attribute this to immaculate pores. |

That's the thing, "minimize appearance of pores". I can honestly say that my pores "appear to be smaller" because they're no longer filled with gunk and goo, but they have not really gotten smaller.
Interesting Sel, think I'll start a new thread about Isolaz, maybe one of our fellow forum members will be able to provide testimony! |

I found that my pores looked less noticeable after using Yonka Pure Concentrate Emulsion but, I don't think they actually shrank in size-they were just cleaner and therefore, not as apparent. Warning though-the Emulsion will cause your skin to purge, or at least it has with me.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!! You are lying Sel, you must be lying!!!! If I hate the size of my pores now, you are telling me they'll just get bigger with age?! Now I'm frightened. Someday I'll wake up and be one huge walking pore. |
