I began my maintenance Obagi and I need advice, suggestions on what to do next.
My problem is I have no idea what products I should be using when not using Obagi Clear and Blender. |

Hi Alley and congratulations on completing Obagi! Before deciding on which products to use next it would be a good idea to determine if you have any remaining skin issues that Obagi did not resolve. Once you figure out what problems you want to target then that should help guide you towards products that treat those issues. My main issue post-Obagi was/is pore congestion so I went with the Osmosis line which is supposed to be great for that.
Of course you may be one of the people who obtained flawless skin with Obagi and don't have any remaining issues to work on, you just want to maintain what you've achieved. If that's the case I hope somebody else comes along with advice because I don't have much experience with flawless skin. |

Thanx mamawalnut - I definitely got great skin with Obagi but lately I have been suffering from almost cystic acne. It is maddening because just when one pimple goes away another starts forming so the great skin I got from Obagi is basically wasted! I had this happen about 18 months ago lasting about 3 months so I have to conclude it is internal and not the products. I have to put some additional research into this mess. |

Someone told me to switch completely to SkinCeuticals line. However, I don't think the phyto+ works as good as Obagi. I want to know how long I should stay off from using Obagi again. |

sfong - I was told I could con't using Obagi by doing maintenance. I think you use clear or blender every 3rd day or 2x's a week. You can still use the retinol at your normal tolerance level everyday.
I am going to give Skinmedica line a go wish me luck. |

Hey, I got a lot more cystic acne after obagi too!! I wonder if it's related??
I pretty much switched to Pure Skin Formulations for a while, but I'm looking at a more mild whitening serum or vit-c...haven't decided yet.
Actually, after Obagi, other than searching hi and low for a good sunscreen, I pretty much went all out on EDS to try new stuff cuz I'm a product junkie.. LOL! |

Iam on maintenance from Obgai and I use the same things just exforderm forte and bender/retional Thursday and Sunday. As my things run out Iam switching to the Obgai C line Iam already using the cleanser for a toner I will use plain witch hazel and then the rest of the line. The C line is not as strong but my sun damage and uneven skin tone is gone. Iam to afraid to change lines since this has worked so well. I also use Obgai Vit C 10% but will be changing to the 20% in a few weeks. Iam also doing this under my derm supervision HTH |

I went to my spa this week for a peel and to discuss this horrible acne. She seems to think that it is being caused by the peels. Apparently, the purging from the peel is responsbile for the acne. When I thought back to the previous breakout I had increased the % of retin-a so maybe that was a purge also. |

So far Iam just using the Vit C Cleanser am/pm I would guess in about 2-3 weeks. But my skin still looks great just using the exforderm blender/retional Sun & thursday. I will be ut of Clear 1st and then get the Vit C day lotion or w/out sunscreen. I also will be out soon of their Vit C 10% and will switch to the 20% My skin is still looking god just not as sensative or peeling. I can see on my Thurs/Sun days Iam a bit more sensative. Will keep everyone posted

I've used the Obagi Nuderm system for eight months now. I'm not on maintenance. I don't use the products at all under the nose, between the nose and mouth or sides of the nose or on the chin. I did use the products in these areas for a limited period of time. During that time period, I developed cystic bumps under the nose area. I stopped using Obagi under the nose and tried Biomedic cleanser. That product helped; the cyst like things would get smaller but really never completely cleared. So, now I am using a product I found at Wal-Mart called Nature's Cure acne treatment vanishing cream. It contains 5% Benzoyl Peroxide plus aloe vera. I use it at night between nose and mouth and put a night cream on my lips. This Nature's Cure vanishing cream is smoothing the skin and getting rid of those nasty cystic bumps! I am not taking the tablets that came with the cream.
I will never again use the Obagi products under the nose. I didn't get any cystic bumps on any other part of my face. It was limited to the nose area. |

I have the small red breakouts starting last Tuesday, I don't know if that is what you called cystic acne. I was thinking it's maybe from the SPF35, 'coz I applied pretty much on that day and it's kind of oily too.
Does any other Obagi users have this experience too? What about those who are on maintenance now? Any breakouts problem? |

I am talking about white looking or clear bumps that are not whiteheads but seem like they have have something hard in the bump. It is not going to rupture on its own. It is deep in the skin. It can be a clear looking bump.
If you have some red bumps that itch, you might have welts. You will get this if you have used something like a triple antibiotic cream on an area of your face and then accidentally get some of the Obagi system on that same area. It is a bad reaction that occurs. |

Hi Margar,
You're right, I have those little red bumps that itch starting Tuesday and until now ,Friday, but not that obvious and doesn't itch anymore. I did'nt apply anything on my face except the Obagi products.
I was thinking the reson might be I applied too much of the SPF35, which is too oily or I ate too much mangoes the last few days. |

Wow Mely,
Bumps are new to me. I've been using since 2005. Maybe it is the SPF. It can be quite greasy! |
