Hello All,
does anyone have any experience with weight loss or skin moisturizing with coconut oil. It's now thought to be the best oil for us so I'm trying to cook with it. Also I just pick up a chunk of it (since my house is in the 60 degree range it is still saturated) and rub it on my body. My calves and fore-arms love it but thighs, upper arms and buttocks got dryer and bumpy. What gives? Also it doesn't soak in very quickly. Anyone with thoughts? I was using Vitamin-Shop extra virgin. |

I know that Coconut Oil is good for hair but I haven't heard anything about its benefits for skin. I thought that it was a bit heavy and comedogenic for the skin but I could be wrong. |

coconut oil is supposed to be great for skin. i actually use it as a body moisturiser. it does take a bit to sink in but it ends up moisturising. |

Fractionated or refined coconut oil sinks in beautifully and has a long shelf life. |

I was at the health food store and went to check out the coconut oil and was stymied as to what to get.... it looks like it's a solid? (i guess that's why ginderella used the word "chunk" to describe it)
Am I just being unimaginative? how would you use this? |

It's supposed to liquefy at 74 degrees so it is like a true butter in that it gets very soft or melts. If your house is warm you could pour it or scoop it to get it out for either cooking or to rub into skin. My body seemed to like it in some areas but got bumpy and dryer in others. Has anyone lost weight incorporating it in their diet. Is that why Thai people tend to be so slim? |
