Thanks, edenfield!
I'm glad to see that HA seems to be effective since I use it.
But what is y-PGA? |

the first graph shows that around 28 days natural moisturizing factors in the skin drop while using HA (that's bad)
the other graphs show other things though so its a bit confusing...
y-PGA is gamma....something glutamic acid |

So I take it that NMF = Natural Moisturizing Factor, right? I also was curious about y-PGA and what this is (since it obviously ranks quite high or favorably in the charts). Perhaps a little more info that explains what the acronyms are, as well as a fuller introduction regarding all three charts would be helpful (and appreciated!).
TIA! |

Actually, I'm not sure how to interpret the charts because some show that HA is the winner and some show y-PGA. Plus, there isn't enough info to properly evaluate the results. We've had a lot of discussion about HA here on EDS, and the consensus is that HA eventually sucks moisture out--unless you apply it with something that moisturizes such as a good absorbing oil like rosehip or jojoba in which case it greatly compounds the beneficial moisturizing effects, leaving much better results than the oil would give on its own. When they tested HA for this study, did they use it alone or in conjunction with an oil or moisturizer?
Anyhow, I focused on skin elasticity since that is most important to me right now.

Hey wait a minute - there were three charts not one earlier on. And those other two charts showed a different picture concerning HA and Collagen. Can you please re-post the two you removed, Edenfield, as I feel the one chart you've left is a tad misleading now. Thanks again! |

ok Y-PGA is poly glutamic acid
they used hyaluronic acid and soluble collagen, each one was in the same base at the same concentration. |

I only see one chart and nothing more.... and the chart size is HUGE! Unlike earlier when I could see all charts; each one being significantly smaller than the one I can see now. |

edenfield the manufacturer of Poly glutamic acid (INCI:Natto Gum) has the full text of the C & T article available on their website. Here is the link to Natto Biosciences:
http://www.nattobiosciences.com/cosmetics.html
You will see a link to the article published in C&T and can access the PDF.
I am not quite sure what the link that I provided in my previous post is but it does have quite a bit of information. It would appear that Yena Innovation is a distrubutor for the Dr. PGA products which is one brand using the Poly glutamic acid ingredient from Natto Biosciences. |
