I am outside most of the day and go through sunscreen very quickly. I like using Neutrogena's drytouch ultra-sheer sunscreen but go through very quickly. Can anyone recommend another product that is as comfortable to use but a bit less expensive?

Are you using the version of Neutrogena Dry Touch with Helioplex? (my spf 70 does, but I noticed that some of the lower SPF versions do not)

If it doesn't contain Helioplex, then you may be fine going with some of the generics or private label brands (like a Target brand) that have the same components.

But Helioplex doesn't break down as quickly as the other sunscreens (meaning you are protected longer), and Neutrogena is the only brand carrying it. Plus, you will spend more reapplying the other stuff more often anyway...unless you sweat alot, and then you need to reapply in both cases.

Is switching to save $$$ worth the increase in skin cancer risk? I know it's a tough question, but I come from a family with skin cancer issues, plus a work friend of mine just died a year ago from melanoma. Sad

Hi, tyates. Do you live in a place that has those "warehouse-type" stores such as Costco? They have a few brands they sell in bulk, which is pretty reasonably priced if you compare with buying onesy-twosies from a regular drugstore. I agree with Bethany, don't compromise if you are out in the sun at lot. Good luck.

I can't think of anything cheaper than Neutrogena than buying it at Costco in bulk. Compared to having to pay for any medical treatments out of pocket it really isnt that pricey.

All is well on the site. Go to the top of the forum and check several messages waiting for you. Hope this will explain things.

I had a dermatologist recommend Ombrelle, I think it is by Loreal. About the same cost as average drug store brand.

I suggest you to try MD Forte SPF 30. You may get it cheaper when the website such as EDS now has it on sale, all you need is just a little bit. I found that if you use a better sunscreen, you don't need to apply a whole lot so overall, you save more money by using better products.
