Any1 ever used it? I bought one batch.. it didn't remove my acne completly but it cleared up my face pretty well and stopped whiteheads, etc. from coming out... I've stopped because shipping from USA to UK takes ages and now they're back, doubt it's a conincidence!

My daughter has been taking B5 since march 21st and she has had amazing results, she started of with 10 grams a day(which was 20 pills) now she is down to 2 grams a day and her skin looks great, she also takes, biotin, a B complex and zinc. Smile

What brand of B5 are you using?
Where did you purchase it?

Thanks

brand doesn't matter, just make sure you get plenty of the other B vits when you're taking pantothenic acid (B5). also, you have to take it for a few weeks to notice the effect. moreover, you may need to take upwards of 10 grams as well. for severe acne, maybe even more. for people with oily skin, when they take b5 at these quantities, they will notice that their skin becomes WAY less oily. i've tried this and accutane, and both had the same effect on sebum production ,although the accutane worked better. the theory behind b5 is that acne is caused by oil that clogs pores. without the oil (lipid) buildup, acne will decrease. coenzyme A, so the story goes, metabolizes lipids. to make coenzyme A, you need B5 and other stuff. B5 just so happens to be the one ingredient that you're body cannot manufacture on its own (it's a vitamin). So by giving your body enough b5, you get enough coenzyme A, and so the lipid break down is normal and not excreted in the sebum of the skin. what about the b5 we get from foods? well, the story says that this is inadequate b5 because it is used up to synthesize sex hormones (hence, when you're a teen, you've got more sex hormones and less b5 to make conenzyme A, thus more acne). when you get older, sex hormones drop a lot, and you dont need to take as much b5. if i had bad acne i'd go with accutane, but if you want to give it a shot this company is pretty cheap. again, i dont think brand matters.

oh i might add, that people with oily skin and acne will fair better on loading with B5. Those that have dry skin and acne will not see as good results. also, for skeptics, there have been scholarly studies published in reputable peer review medical journals. serach for them if you like. the derm community as a whole seems to be very slow to pick up on the 'supposed' role of B5. i suspect that in 10 years or so most derms will be recommending supplementing with b5 over those ridiculous topicals that often times do nothing. (disclaimer: i dont recommend b5 or accutane w/o first consulting your health provider Laughing )

Hair loss is the most significant side effect of taking megadoses of B5. I take the more bio-available form which is Pantethine (Pantesin is the highest quality & pharmaceutical grade kind) and I only have to take 900mg a day instead of 10g for Pantothenic acid. To counter hair loss and other minor side effects you would also need to supplement with 30mg Zinc (the OptiZinc kind), 300mcg Biotin, and a B-100 complex which usually has Biotin included.

Anyone know where to get the time-released B5? I know the clear 5 brand's pills are time-released, so you only need to take 3-4 pills aday, equivalent to 2, 3g.
