I have completed my 18 weeks and was on 3 weeks of the maintenance with the NuDerm system. Let me first say that my skin looks great and it was worth every penny and every peel that happened. On the advice of my "face" and Derm Iam going off the products at least for the summer. I tried the C line for maintenance andd it was much to harsh for my ultra sensitive skin so I went back to NuDerm. My face was just not responding to the products by that I mean hurting and getting red and just getting too worn out. Now for all of you on this journey don't stop I will continue to use 2x a week the retional with my night time moisterizer and the Vit C 15% as well as SS light a crazy person. Iam now using LRP for sensative skin and for me it is working. This is a great system and in the fall I will use the Clear if needed so i encourage my EDS family this is my skins reaction and everyone's skin is different. If I could do it so can you so keep me posted and I will do the same. Love Dale |

Dale, thanks for you review. I'm seriously considering this system. My only issue is going to be dealing with my skin during the red peeling stages while going to work each day. I have to deal with alot of people in my job and I might scare the sh** out of them with my face looking so red and peeling. Did you have to go to work while on this system? If you did, how was your experience with going to work each day during the first few weeks? Were you able to disguise the redness and peeling or did you just not even bother to try to cover it up? |

my peeling was not that bad and most people knew that I was on the system on bad days i used hydracortisone (?) cream from the drug store and that really helped-Good luck |

Congratulations! Dale
I am on my 20th days of my obagi journey and am glad to hear that you have good resuts. Can I ask you some questions? Did you use all the Nu-Derm products daily for 18 weeks? If so, did u used 1 or 2 tubes of Clear for the 18th weeks?
If pigmentation was ur problem, did it go away?
Thanks in advance. |

Yes i used it for the full 18 weeks and went thru almost 2 bottles of Clear. I had some sun damage and uneven skin tone that has all cleared up as stated I plan on using the Vit C daily and the Retional 2-3 times per week but nothing else from the line at this time. My skin is feeling better also I love their Ss that comes with the Nu Derm system. I feel that I have treated the most severe aspects of my face and now can maintain my Derm also said that with good SS Vit C and retional this can be achieved if you do not want to stay with the system. Obagi Vit C has worked for me and I did pump up to the 15% from the 10% |

UPDATE: Well after almost a week of not using the Obagi my skin and my mental health were saying have i made the right choice. My face felt tight and was starting to flake and get red. So again I called my Derm and then went to a friends husband who is a Derm and told him my story. He said the same thing that i guess I was hoping to hear. I could stay on maintenance with out damage. The weather here is getting warmer and my skin was reacting and looking back i did use (since returned) the Obagi C cleanser which was making my skin red. Next thing I go and see someone from a different branch where i work and a women (Mega Rich) comes up and says Hi and says "Wow you skin looks great" then this Am Iam checking my email and i won the $50 voucher from EDS. Ladies its a skin or Iam NUTS!!! So Iam going to continue my journey follow my skins "needs" use less if needed or more when needed and want all of you to know how much I appreciate you and this forum. So now what to spend the $$$ on
PS: My name is Dale and IAM A OBAGI USER |

Thanks for the update, Dale! And how wonderful to get a compliment like that! I'm in my 4th week of NuDerm and it seems like the peeling and redness is decreasing. I am applying a moisturizer 1 hour after applying the Retin-A (every 3rd night) on my chin and nose only and that has helped. No lightening of sun spots on my face yet (my main reason for starting the system), but most of them are deep and I know they will take longer. The sun spot on my left hand had faded substantially, though!
Are you still using the Clear and Retin-A? |

Thanks for the update, Dale.
Today is my 24th day of Obagi and I am still peeeling. I have a problem with the SPF 35, even I only apply a pea size, I can see my face whitened by this and also the white cast , and just now, I apply the Action and OMG, my whole face is white and with all the flakes. I have no problem with the Sunfader. Every A.M., my routine is Cleanser-Toner-Clear-Eye Cream-Exfoderm-Sunfader-SPF 35. P.M. is Cleanser-Toner-Clear, after 30 minutes, Blender with Tretinoin.
Do you think I still have to apply the SPF 35?
Thanks. |

Hello Rocking Robin,
Good to know that your spot on your hand has faded. What did you do?
My spots on my face are still there but I can see they are not as dark as before. I have like 5 moles(not raised) on my face which I can see is not that dark too as before. I hope those will be gone too if I finish the 18th week.
I still have lots of peeling especially around my chin and mouth areas. |

But do you have the problem with the white cast and how much of the sunscreen do you used every time? |

Hello right back Mely. The spot on the top of my left hand is fading because that is where I put the products and then apply to my face, rather than putting them in the palm of my hand. Just an added bonus from Obagi! I too have a few flat moles that I'm hoping the Obagi will fade.
I use the Obagi sunscreens (Sunfader then SPF 35)also and don't have a problem with the white cast. I use about a large pea size every day and rub it in like crazy until it disappears. I have a fair skin tone, though, so that may help. |

Mely09,
I had the same problem with the sunscreen in my first 3-4 weeks. Speed in application is the key to avoiding the white cast. It might help if you apply it in sections (forehead first, each side separately, etc.). It also helps to pat it in instead of rubbing.
I am now at 9 weeks, and I no longer have a problem with the white cast.
Hope that helps |

Hi VegasObagi,
I am going to try your style in applying the SPF 35. Thank you for the advice.
By 9 weeks, did your spots(if you have any)fade away and how's your skin reacting now? Do you still have your Clear enough for the coming weeks? Do you apply Sunfader and then SPF 35 everyday too? |

RockingRobin,
I don't have any spots on my hand and if there's any, it's very very tiny, but I have some on my arms. So, I am going to put the products on my arms that have spots. That's a good idea. That's why I like this forum.
I have a fair skin too, but I am just too white when I apply the SPF 35. But as what VegasObagi say, speed in application is the key to avoiding the white cast. I have to be speedy now or else I look like I have a white mask at work. |

Hi Everyone,
I've just completed one month on NuDerm now, beginning on 4/1. I have been trying to increase the number of times I use the tretinoin. I was using it every other day but started using it 2 days straight, and then 3 days straight a couple weeks ago. I was able to tolerate it just fine. A couple days ago after going back to every other day, I noticed that I was starting to get red splotchiness between my eyebrows and on my cheeks. But this time, I had red bumps show up. It's like I'm breaking out, but I'm not really sure whether they are acne. I had something similar happen early on, but the bumps were minimal. This time, there were many more. Those red areas seem very irritated as well. So last night, I didn't use the tret/blender combo and just used hydrocortisone cream on the red areas and moisturizer on my whole face. The bumps flattened significantly by the morning, so I don't think it was acne. I thought that my skin would start getting more used to the products. My skin seemed to be handling the products better for the first 3 weeks. I'm definitely going to continue but wanted to know if anyone else experienced red bumps with the redness? The area slightly above and between my eyebrows seem to be the most sensitive area on my face. |

Mely,
I went through my first bottle of Clear within 6 weeks. When I went back to restock it, I was told that I was using too much, and that one bottle should last 2.5 - 3 months. That only makes sense since it is applied twice a day.
I have noticed a slight decrease in the pigmentation on my skin, but I have been told that the truly noticeable difference does not occur until phase 3.
I do not have the Sunfader in my regimen at all. |

I just started my second bottle of clear. I started using Obagi on 2/19/08 and I am on week 10. I hope I'm not using too much. |

Hi Mely09,
I just finished my 18wk Obagi program on 4/26/08 and I have to tell you that my flat moles have lightened considerably but they did not disappear. My moles are small and have been removed by my Derm previously with laser but they returned soon afterwards due to sun exposure even though I used sunscreen religiously (eek!).
After Obagi, the moles are very light brown and I find that I don't really need much/if any foundation (which is good since I hate putting on makeup) so I'm happy with the results.
Good luck with your journey! |

Hello LLydia,
Thank you so much for your response and it helps to know that it will just lighten it up but won't fade away and the best thing to do is to avoid the sun.
Congratulations for finishing your 18th week Obagi program and loving the results. How many bottles of Clear did u used during the 18th wk? And what are your maintenance program now?
I wear make-up only on special occasion and hope that after finishing my Obagi program, I don't have to wear it at all. |

You got it! You know, I said I used sunscreen religiously but I now realize I didn't. Oops! I was living in NYC at the time and I never reapplied sunscreen throughout the day -it was summer and I spent lots of time outdoors too. No wonder they came back.
I have oily, acne-prone and rather thick resilient skin so I could tolerate the harsh ingredients of Obagi quite well. Right from the start, I was able to use Obagi everyday -no skipping days for me. My super oily areas like my forehead loved Obagi and was acne free almost immediately with no redness. My dry area (around mouth, chin) got pink/red and flakey a lot though; I stopped going out to dinner b/c of this. It's funny now how I looked with flakes all over my mouth/chin but it wasn't then.
Keeping in mind that I used Clear twice everyday for 18wks, I ended up using almost 2 bottles of Clear; I still have some left. I used 1/2 gram or enough to lightly coat my face, no more than that.
As for my current maintenance program, my skin looks great and it's not really oily anymore, but I still have enlarged pores on my cheeks and blackheads on my nose. Obagi with ExFoderm (Glycolic acid-AHA) doesn't clean pores so I just started using BHA to keep pores clean and to lessen the size of enlarged pores. I'm trying to use Obagi only 2xs a week. I was afraid that I'd break out again if I stopped using Retin-A and so far it looks good. Eventually I want to stop Obagi all together but I'll probably keep using Retin-A to control acne. I'm also spot treating my light moles with super cop 2x (I warn you, don't try this if you haven't tried copper peptides or if you have sensitive skin, skin allergies, etc. -like I said I have resilient skin). I'm still experimenting with skincare routine.
Thanks for the congrats. If you only wear make-up on special occasions now, then you probably won't need it even on those special occasions after you're done. |

Congrat!!, I wish I have a good result like you had. Mine just started yesterday. My face didn't respond to the product yet. I didn't see any peeling and changes.
Oh, can I use make up during Obagi?? |
