Does anyone else get the tingle feeling? I did a treatment about an hour ago and my face feels itchy - not in a bad way. And slightly sore. Doesn't feel bad, but the feeling makes me want to rub/massage my neck. That kind of thing. |
Mine still has not arrived, but speculation...could it be the lymphatic drainage everyone speaks about?
BTW Welcome to the Naked Club! |

Hadn;t thought about that. I am really concentrating on my neck and jawline...
Just feels really sore, like a muscle strain. Weird. |
I was wondering if it could be something simple like; this bloody thing takes so long, I wonder if I'm tensing up to get a good position, which in turn is making my muscles sore?
If that's not the case I'd definitely want to investigate further.
DM suggested the "lymphatic drainage" which is a great thought, but as someone who experiences it regularly (with my treatments) I must say there isn't anything uncomfortable about it. For me it's just an awareness that a small amount of fluid is traveling down my lymph passage. If anybody has ever had a post nasal drip, this would be similar (but in the neck rather than down the throat.
Hopefully others will chime in for ya too...
ETA: I'm happy to see you are sticking to "bare" face or "CP's" only (pre treatment) for now.. Good girl! Save the luxurious stuff to feed your skin AFTER the treatment.. |

Mine just arrived, and my poor mail lady was sweating bullets complaining about the awful high temperatures today!
I will get to play with it tonight.....bare faced as promised! naked totally naked LOL |

Yeah DM - have fun, let us know.
Yes, the sore neck is strange. Not painful, but I just find myself needing to massage it. Maybe I am just stressed today... who knows. Will keep it up.
Thanks for all the help! |

Update: The soreness in my neck.. well.. had nothing to do with the AALS. I have a horrible cold and my lymph nodes are super swollen.
Lovin it so far!
DM, have you given it a go yet? |
Sorry I didn't get back as soon as promised, that first night my tummy decided to have a fit so I never had a chance to even get it out of the box!
I did use it last 2 nights and I do love the feeling of it on my skin, and yes I used it naked!
Skin was glowing as expected, I will obviously need to use it consistently to see more substantial results. I am with you loving it these 2 nights of use!
Hope your cold is better. |

what wonders a qvc campaign does i guess.
i'm a gadget lover and have looked at silk'nface on shop nbc and starlite-lm on their starlitetherapy webpage which are both fda cleared.
i had the lightstim and just like the qvc reviewers (bought mine last year before qvc)it was pretty worthless and i never saw a change and nor did my sister -- so that's why i'm out looking.
both of these products are new and worth a look in my humble opinion....plus they don't have rechargeable batteries and not power cords and don't need to be used everyday forever.but hey....there's no qvc "deal" to be had if that's what is really important.
i'll probably do a coin toss and try one of them out:) |
Why are you implying the QVC reviews are poor? It has an average of 4.1 stars out of 5. Out of 237 reviews, 160 of them are 5 stars. I'd say that's pretty dang good for a beauty gadget. This is the one that was sold last year, which is presumably the one you purchased. I'm not sure why you are implying the consensus was that it is "worthless"; that is hardly the case.
Also. I'm not sure what the condescending tone of a "QVC deal" is about. This is a thread about Lightstim, so of course people will be talking about where they can get the best price. I personally don't see the draw of having a device with a rechargeable battery, I could care less about that. The 2 devices you mentioned only cover a very small area, that doesn't appeal to me either. This before and after picture for Starlight is totally fake, so I definitely won't be looking into that one. |

i'd probably best move on from this thread as i guess it's for lightstim fans (like a certain testy poster here who sounds like either a Behrman Communications rep who promotes lightstim or a lightstim account manager with that name) ... of which i like others are clearly not one of. |
Just in case this sarcasm is directed to me, it's time for me to come clean on a few things.
1.) I have no ulterior motives or hidden agenda's for anything I share regarding LED's or Lightstim in particular.
2.) I am NOT on anybody's payroll, and my integrity has NEVER been for sale.
3.) I am NOT a shill, couldn't care less what LED folks choose to use, but simply share my personal experiences as a person who has tried 3 different LED's, because I don't like to see people waste their hard earned money.
When I 1st started using the LS I was a fairly new member here, and didn't have a clue about forums or skincare. In my naivete I began to share my experiences as well as my photo's... (silly me!) Many folks who were well seasoned in the skincare arena (and forums) were sadly suspicious, just like you.
Long story short is I'm still here 5 years later, many members now know me personally and now when I post a picture they know damn well I never said a word of lie about the condition of my skin or the subtle positive improvements I continue to share and claim.
I'm also going to confide something now for the 1st time... 3 or 4 years ago Steve (owner of LS) asked me if he could use my "before & after" photos on the website? He was also impressed with my results.. He asked me all about my treatments, and I shared everything I was doing. Two years later he asked me about my DIY serums and for months I shared my research and data with him.. Unfortunately, the finished product (as lovely as it is) is not what I choose to use pre LED treatment, because the "base" has ingredients I'd rather not use, so I really don't recommend it. (Suffice it to say I don't care for a few of the base ingredients.)
The very last thing Steve asked me more than a year ago, had to do with an "infomercial" he was contemplating doing. He asked me if I would consider being in it? I've shared many pictures with him through the years and he knows better than any of you that I am honest to a fault with my experience and results.
The moral of my long winded story is that I SAID AN EMPHATIC NO TO ALL OF THESE REQUESTS! And the reason I said NO is because it is very important to me to maintain my integrity and have a totally unbiased opinion to share on the forum. I also told Steve that I had every intention of saying the good, bad, or anything else I experienced with LS, so I didn't want to have such a personal involvement with the product. With that said, he respected my position and I really haven't spoken to him since.
And while I'm on a roll here, I'd also like to say that I obey the forum rules, and say NO to everybody who PM's me to "please will you sell me your DIY serums"... (Now they can just go to the 2 members who have opened online shops and sell my C serum... )
Trust me when I tell ya'll I have nothing to hide and sincerely share my honest opinions from the heart... |
They can also make their own from the recipes you have shared here for a long time! |

Holy crap, even more than I thought.. LS would probably offer the 10% forum discount they always give members but stilll..........OY!
The only way I would even contemplate that personally would be if I was achieving significant tightening to my 62 year old face. Unfortunately that's not the case.. I'm pretty sure I'm showing the signs of aging at a slower pace, but I really believe that at this age, nothing but the knife would make any huge difference.
If I were 40 or so, and still had great collagen & elastin fibers to work with, I might consider it a good investment.. Hard to say... |

Steve Marchese,CEO with Lightstim, has the panel LED Light in his bathroom and although it covers the entire face quickly he says it doesn't lend itself to be directly on the skin which Steve says is more effective.I think you would find Steve and his wife holding their handheld devices....no doubt one in each hand!!! |

All is well with me but way too busy and haven't had time to post. I do try to follow certain threads and this is one of my favorite threads because the Lightstim is so effective. Glad to see you ordered one Dark Moon, it took me a while to get the Lightstim "bug"....Kassy tried to convince me but after buying several lights and not getting the raves of the lightstim I finally got one, then added another! I am a two handed Lightstim lover and my face loves me for it! |

I am a new member and bought the Lightstim on the GMA special last month. I just stumbled on to this website looking for info about this product trying to decide whether to keep it or send it back (just used it today for the 1st time). I am confused and hope someone can help. My handle reads "Lightstim for wrinkles. I only see LS anti-aging, acne and rosacea for sale on other sites. Did I get an outdated model? I'm really enjoying this forum. Lots of good info. Thanks for letting me weigh in. JB |
I am not an expert however I remember when this new model came out a while back, so no the model you have is the newest one. |

Since you are a techie, what do you think of the DPL panels? |
I'm definitely not a techie, but I like the DPL. It's my third LED, I've also used the Baby Q and the Lightstim. I much prefer the Lightstim over the Baby Q - but then I wanted to try a panel device. The DPL definitely "feels" more like a professional treatment and I enjoy being able to just relax without all the timing. I place the panels directly over my face for a full 17 mins.
I've also been using it on my chest, which is VERY sun damaged. I haven't noticed any improvement in skin quality but my chest wrinkles have gone. Whether this is due to my recent weight loss (I've lost 11kg lately) I don't know. But then you'd think that weight loss would make me look more wrinkly. It's definitely done that to my arms!
Whether the DPL is better than the Lightstim I really wouldn't like to say - we've discussed the power of different LED devices in the past and no-one seems to really have an outright definitive answer. There's all kinds of variables involved apparently - and all the technical stuff goes straight over my head.
I'll say this though - out of all the myriad of gadgets that I've bought over the years, an LED is at the top of my list and I've used one faithfully for around six years - and will keep doing so. |

Yeah Ryan! Congrats!
I am super happy. I did 5 days in a row - had to skip a few due to a horrible cold. Now that I am back in the saddle again, I have done 3 treatments this week.
What I really notice is that my skin looks rosy and "creamy". Like I am wearing a beautiful foundation... I love it!
I think the true test will be the wrinkles on my chest. So glad I took the plunge. |

Don't forget as Kassy says Naked at first oops that was my terminology. |
Haha , that's what I will do anyway. Since I made this investment I probably won't be buying any topicals for a while. The DIY serums sound interesting. I may have to learn how to do that eventually. I'm not really into things like creams you have to keep buying. I think that's why the LED lights and other gadgets interest me.
I do like the DPL panels, but I noticed last night that it was probably several inches away from my forehead. I lay it directly on my face, it's usually touching my cheeks, but I think there's a few areas where it's not right on the skin. The panels are probably great to lie directly on places like the chest and stomach; the LS may be better for the face. I will continue to use both for right now. I work at home on the computer, so it will be no problem at all to use the LS while I work. |

Ok, so two weeks in still doing on a naked face.
Two questions:
1) is it best to apply a serum pre or post treatment?
2) What is a good ready made serum to use. I am finding most of them have oils which I believe is a no-no when using before. |
Hi erg,
Not an expert as you know but I think you can do either before or after (maybe both)
One possibly?
PSF Berry Beneficial Antioxidant Serum
http://www.essentialdayspa.com/psf-berry-beneficial-anti-p_6536.htm
Ingredients
Acai Extract - Wild harvested berries from the Amazon Rainforest, acai contains a remarkably high percentage of antioxidants, essential omega fatty acids, and a nearly perfect amino acid complex. High in phytosterols, acai contains 10-30 times the anthocyanins (purple colored antioxidants) as red wine.
Grapeseed Extract (GSE) - Contains oligomeric proanthocyanidin (OPC), a potent antioxidant, which has been shown in scientific studies to speed wound healing & reduce scarring when applied topically. Research has shown that GSE also exhibits significant anti-inflammatory characteristics, as well as improving micro-circulation within the skin.
Green Tea Extract - 90% polyphenols (50% EGCG). This concentration of green tea extract has been shown to exhibit up to 40% more antioxidant properties than Vitamin E.
Pomegranate & Blueberry Extract - Potent antioxidant properties, anti-inflammatory & skin protectant. Helps revitalize & add radiance to tired, dull-looking skin.
PBN Spin Trap - Spin traps work differently than other types of antioxidants. Instead of neutralizing free radicals like other antioxidants, spin traps suppress GTF's (gene transcriptional factors) associated with various pathological states. Spin traps capture the reactive oxygen species and redirect it to support beneficial tissue respiration instead of spinning off to destruct DNA rich skin cells.
Hyaluronic Acid - One of the most biologically complex and nourishing molecules for the skin. It is found naturally in young skin, and decreases subsequently with age. It is responsible for retaining moisture within the skin, contributes to plumpness, softness, and firmness of skin tone.
Hyaluronic Acid Solution (Distilled Water, Sodium Hyaluronate), Euterpe oleracea (Organic Acai) Extract, Vitis vinifera (Organic Grapeseed) Extract, Punica granatum (Pomegranate) Extract, Camellia sinensis (Green Tea) Extract [90% Polyphenols, 50% EGCG], Vaccinum angustifolium (Organic Blueberry) Extract, Phenylbutylnitrone (PBN Spin Trap), Sodium EDTA
Hopefully a long time user will weigh in on if that would work or not! The one thing I see that MAY be an issue is the HA but I am not sure. |

Have any of the long-term users experienced hair growth on their face? I had read somewhere that LED's can be used for hair growth on the scalp. I have had electrolysis on my face to thin out the beard area, so I didn't want to get any new growth there. I asked Liz from Light4Beauty when I bought my DPL about a year ago, and she said since the hair follicle had been killed, it shouldn't stimulate any new growth. So I don't know..just wondering. |
Oh Hairy Houdini, I hope not, lol! I have enough chin hairs as it is. |

Does anyone know if the Collagen Peptide Serum (that came with the LS) work? If yes, do you need to apply a lot or a little? Thanks! JB |
It is a nice serum that works well with the Lightstim. My skin felt very mo
isturized and plump afterwards. I only used one bottle so not enough time to see any other benefit. I used 1-1 1/2 pumps that covered my face & neck.
I think any good serum with hyaluronic acid would work as well. The PSF antioxident serum that DarkMoon mentioned looks good. |
