I bought "Acne Free" products from Costco and tried the cleanser, toner, and lotion that came in the package. My skin felt like it got sunburned after I used it. The next day I noticed a patch the size of a nickle on my left cheek. It's a bit raised and hard to the touch.
I don't know what to do. I already stopped using the "Acne Free".
I put emu oil on my face after I clease it. I hope it will calm my skin down. Is there anything else I should do? |

I actually used this line for quite a while (6 months) I would not say that it messed up my skin like it did yours (ruk1), but it did not really help either. I say "help" only meaning help me find products that keep my skin clear. It is tauted as the next best thing to Proactiv, but I can not stand proactiv, but I thought the ingredients might help my skin. I stopped because it was neither here nor there. I am sorry it messed up your skin, I am sure it is only temporary and it will calm down. I would say make sure your skin is hydrated, sounds like maybe it dried out your skin, so your skin is reacting? |

Ouch! I think that patch is a large cystic pimple, I recently got one on my chest. I treated it by spot treating it with (alternating by) my zinc paste and honey. It came to a head twice, and I've squeezed stuff out of it. Sounds weird that it came to a head more than once, it makes me think it was a cluster of pimples in some unholy alliance to make me cry. |

You can try using obagi healthy skin spf35 as it acts as a moisturer and also provide sun protection. You can also use their action in the evening. |

Yes, Berquis, my skin was reacting to it right away with the sunburn sensation. The raised patch (which calmed down by 70% today) came up the next morning. My skin definitely got dried out by the products as I see flaking all over. |

No, it is definitely not a cystic pimple. Thanks though. |

hey ruk1, since the acne free dried you out, have you tried using the Neutragena (oh wholy) moisturizer that we have been talking about on here? I went and bought the day time lotion, concerned about using retinols and being in the sun. The day cream as SPF 20. Today was the first day I used it, and it was just as moisturizing as the night cream. Jury is still out on the day time one if it causes breakouts. Sometimes the sunscreen products causes breakouts. Also, the raised patch on your cheek that is coming and going, how about trying some Retin A or Tazorac, (do you have either of these?) It will kill the source. I can not imagine that it is anything serious, since it came on with "one time, couple time" use of the product.?? |

I guess the acne free produce dry your skin. You use the whole series of the products, your skin may think it is too harsh and finally mess up your face. |

Hi Berquis,
I am taking it easy on the skin right now. I just cleanse and apply emu oil to hopefully help heal it. My skin is starting to peel and flake in several places now (forehead, cheeks). I can't believe that using Acne Free only once did this to me. It was really harsh. |

Yes, it's definitely too harsh. I hope it's not irreversible. |

If it has BP in it, that is probably what is causing your problems. I used the BP from B. Kamins and I ended up with little patches that felt burnt all over my face. |

You have to be careful with some acne free product, they contain harsh ingredients which can irritate some skin types, especially sensitve.
This is a good link which shows acne and rosacea aggravating substances and also Comedogenic and irritant scale for most cosmetic ingredients.
