I've been having breakouts on my back lately and since the weather is getting warmer and almost summer... i'd like to be able to wear a swimsuit and tank tops, but can't due to how horrible my back acne is.
I'm considering glycolic peel or chemical peel on my back. Has anybody tried it? Is it effective? |

The ance on my chest and face (especially my chest) is a whole lot worse than on my face. My face is clear most of the time, but that's rare for my chest. Basically I try to use everything that I use on my face on my chest as well. And recently I've been doing stuff to my back too.
I recommed Juice Beauty blemish clearing serum, it really works for me and it's gentle. |

I'm trying Peter Thomas Roth's treatment (the one with AHA 2% and BHA 10%) so far... im seeing some improvement... i have less clogged pores and my pimples are calming down
(i have been using it for 2 weeks now) |

I used an AHA mask for my flakey skin and it actually also got rid of a patch of zits on my forehead. Burned like crazy though. I could only leave it on for about five minutes. |

I would recommend dry brushing your skin to help your lymph move and your skin detox (your skin is your largest organ of elimination). There is info on dry brushing here on EDS if you do a search.
I've heard people use Neutrogena Body Clear Body Wash (2% salicylic acid) with good results. Drugstore.com is good too because there are usually customer reviews to read as well:
http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=45779&catid=64337
Active Ingredients: Salicylic Acid (2%) (Acne Treatment)
Inactive Ingredients: Water, Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate, Disodium Cocamphodiacetate, Glycerin, Linoleamidopropyl PG Dimonium Chloride Phosphate, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Extract, Matricaria Flower Extract (Chamomilla Recutita), Citric Acid, Propylene Glycol, Triclosan, Yellow 5, Red 33, Fragrance
I see Phisoderm also has a similar type body wash:
Phisoderm Anti-Blemish Body Wash 12 fl oz (355 ml)
http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=179550&catid=21234
Active Ingredients: Salicylic Acid (2%) (Acne Treatment)
Inactive Ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Anhydrous Citric Acid, Chamomilla Recutita Extract (Matricaria), Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Diazolidinyl Urea, Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate, Edetate Disodium, Fragrance, Glycerin, Methyl Gluceth 20, Methylparaben, Polysorbate 20, Propylene Glycol, Propylparaben, Water Purified, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate, Vitamin E
A weird thing that I heard works as a spot treatment is Head & Shoulders shampoo. Is it sulfur in it that works? Try doing a search on EDS. I think I read about it here. |

I find the neutrogena body clear body wash works well. It is what I resort to using when I have breakouts on my chest/back.
Are you thinking about going in for a peel..or doing one at home? I am not sure how effective that would be on your back, but it works wonders for my face in combination with microdermabrasion. I think I would try a body wash first before going in for a peel. |

That would greatly increase your tendency to burn...something to think about if you are going to be in the sun. |

Good point, Bethany. I didn't even think of that as she is talking about swimsuits and tank tops....
Do you think the body washes with 2% salicylic would be okay?
If not, she could spot treat with sulfur products like the Bye Bye Blemish Drying Lotion (usually can find at the drugstore) or try Head & Shoulders as a spot treatment
Here's a site that covers different treatments:
