Nemo!AtTheDisco, thanks a lot!
I've got "Prep&Prime" today and cleansing oil,
got tester of Select Tint NC30.
I'd like to ask your suggestion re eye make up.
I'm pale skinned, green eyed, blond haired 39-years old. i always used neutral colors on my eyes - beige or brown. What's you suggestion for daily make-up for office.
Thanks in advance.
P.S. I already have in my "wish list"- Loose Blot Powder, Select cover up and Fix+ for tomorrow's trip to MAC's store. |

Hi Nemo!AtTheDisco,
This is really wonderful of you to do
I have trouble using the Prussian eyeliner. It drags on my eyelids when I try to draw a line. I tried doing it in dashes/shorter lines but have the same problem. I've tried both with a point and a more blunted tip, which is only a little better. Love the e/l but rarely use because my eyelids get sore from the pulling/dragging. Also, by the time I mentioned to get something decent on, it's too dry to smudge. Do you have any suggestions?
And is there a second product you could recommend in terms of a blue e/l for brown-eyed gals? I like something in the navy family, not bright or glittery (I lean toward a more conservative look.)
Also, in your opinion, can Asians and people with brown eyes wear bronze shimmer e/s? I know they say you should contrast with eye color, and also wondering if someone with yellowish skin can wear a bronze shimmer color.
Thanks!
Montrealgal
p.s. I'll take the 3rd spot in line! |

Bumping this up for Nemo!AtTheDisco
I saw that you mentioned the paint pots being good to use as a base on your eyelids for lasting eye shadow color. What color would you recommend as a matte neutral tone? And how should it be applied?
Many thanks again, Nemo! |

Hi Grace_K, thanks for the suggestion. I really need something to use as a base on my eyes. I know people rave about that Urban Decay one but I didn't care for it.
Do you use a brush to apply the paint or just your fingers? |

Welcome Nemo! What a great source for all MAC-addicts like I´m I love, love MAC especially the E/S and Paint Pots.
Unfortunately I have a great issue when it comes to foundation colors. I´ve Face &Body in C2 but it doesn´t match 100% because I´m olive-toned. The C2 turns a little bit rose. I have to put everywhere green foundation to get a suitable color. Does MAC have any color for olive-toned complexions? |
I'm not sure why C2 is turning rosy on you. The C & NC collections of shades are the yellow toned foundations. The N & the NW collections are the pink toned shades. Generally I find that the C collection match more olive tones fairly well. I can say that Face & Body is great when you mix it with other products, maybe mixing in the green foundation directly would help.

You could do a number of things for eye makeup that would be very pretty & office appropriate. Before I list the eyeshadow combos, I would like to state my Favorite Brow Highlight is Mylar [neutral satin highlighter] on a lighter skin tone.
One of my favorites is using All that Glitters [beige lustre] on the lid and Haux [light plum brown] in the crease. I would do this with Prunella [burnt plum] liner, great liner for brown eyes. If you'd prefer matte shades, I would recommend Bisque or Quarry as your lid shades.
If you prefer a more plum look [its always good to try something different, I think people should always try an be creative] I love using Quarry [light plum brown] on the lid & Blackberry [medium plum] in the crease, with Prunella liner.
Also, Sable & Handwritten would make a nice deeper bronze combo with a Navy line like Blooz to pop your eyes.

Hmm.. I don't use Prussian alot because I prefer Navy Stain or Auto De Blu, its a twist up & its softer but it kinda dries down to be long wearing but you should have plenty of time to smudge it. It could also be a bad pencil that could be exchanged.
Prussian Eyeshaow is great, on the other hand. You could use it as a powder liner, because its loaded in pigment. For using it as eyeshadow, If you want to keep it more day-friendly buffing it on with a blending brush [MAC 224 or 222 for a more controlled application] would help. You could also dust it over something like Shroom or Mylar to lighten it.
Almost anyone can wear bronze. Bronze [warm bronze] will look great because of your yellow skin tone, whereas a more Plum Bronze [Sable or Twinks] would comliment your eyes & tone. I would probably stay away from the more Orange toned Browns like Amber Lights, but makeup is & art and its good to experiment. Just do it in the store so you don't waste your monies.

I like Painterly & Groundwork for paint puts as eyeshadow bases depending on your skin tone. Constructivist is great on darker skin tones too. I apply it with a Blending brush [My frequent reference to MAC 224] and buff it onto the lid then up towards the brow. It also should be given a few seconds to dry, to ensure its long wear. Using your fingers will be too much Product. |

Hi Nemo!! Good to hear you are well despite the heatwave - yup, this heatwave is dreadful and all over the news! I guess I shouldn't complain that summer hasn't started yet in the PNW!
I did buy Painterly and I'm loving it! And go figure?, I bought the MAC 224 too but just wanted something to blend the eye shadows; I didn't know it was for the paint pots too! I couldn't remember which blender brush you mentioned before and just bought this one since I was already at the counter. I like it but which blender brush did you recommend for eye shadows? By the way, I didn't buy the shadows we spoke about on this purchase (the bill adds up too quickly) but will after I finish buying the other MAC things I want like the blender brush, mineral foundation, prep & prime SPF 50 - and the list goes on!
Thanks, Nemo! We've missed you! |

Hi,
I take sometimes my middle finger and it works perfectly.
Thank you, I will try the mix with green foundation. |

For eyeshadows I love 224, but brush 222 [MAC Store Only] gives more control for the crease or a more defined look. When using 224 for cream products like concealer & paint pots just buff it out in circles. It works great!
And P.S. I felt so lost without the Forum! At work I frequently think of things to ask about, and I was at a loss. Good to be back! |

I'm on MAC's mailing list since I bought something off the website. I got an email about the discount. I think you have to print it out and bring in the coupon. The email also said there's going to be an online friends and family event on June 16. I also got an email through work because they've extended it to some companies (or at least mine). So, I just had to show them my work ID and I got the discount. Maybe you can sign up on their mailing list now and still get the discount. |

I'm not sure as to an actual brush guide, but, that inspires me to make one. For now I would just go to the MAC website. But, for now I will tell you about the brushes I can't live without.
MAC 224 [blending brush] Love it for buffing concealer, shadow bases, & eyeshadow.
MAC 222 [thin blender] its 224 on a diet, amazing precision brush and crease brush
MAC 187 [duo fibre] The worlds greatest bronzer, blush and overall powder brush
All the of previously listed brushes work best when used in circular buffing motions.
Other important guys are MAC 266 [angled liner] and the traditial MAC 239 Basic Eyeshadow brush.
My favorite lip brush is the Flat Lining Brush, 212.
HTH! I'll work on a detailed brush guide and tutorial. |

Sometimes you have to bring in the postcard to qualify, but just say you lost it. They can't hold that against you. It's basically MAC's version of a Sale. Happy Shopping!
A quick note, when you make a purchase at MAC & they ask for your information for the computer, always make sure your in the computer. Thats how you qualify for discounts and get invited to product launches. Always opt to be in the mailing list! |

Misha, where do you work? I'm only familiar with MAC extending its discount to other Lauder owned companies, but maybe I missed a memo. Haha!
