Hello everyone, this is my first post on EDS and I'm glad to be around ppl with so much knowledge on skin care.
Anyway, I'm an afr-american female w/brown skin, and I've noticed lately that my skin on my body- particularly arms, legs, body have been looking kind of dull and uneven toned. I'm already getting into the manual exfoliation but I wanted to know if it was ok to add lactic or glycolic acid to my body lotion to get better/quicker results. Or is there a special body moisturizer recipe I can make to help me brighten and even up my skin again? If I can add any of the acids to my body lotion, what percentage should I use? Any suggestions?

I would be really wary of doing this on your own, particularly since it's something you're not going to wash off. I think it would be safer to first do a mild peel, wash it off, and then put the lotion (as long as it's for sensitive skin and not going to hurt) onto clean skin. |

| you will find that your body lotion neutralises the acid making it pretty much useless. I use 30% lactic acid from larachem over my body once a week and it makes a big difference to the feel of my skin. I'd recommend dry brushing as well. |

There's a really easy way to get good AHA body lotion: ingredientstodiefor.com
In their ready-made bulk products section, I found a gallon for about $30. I also got a large bottle of ceramide serum for comparatively little money. I'm in pig heaven, slathering myself with both products. |

| I am afraid if you add these into your body lotion, irritation may be occurred. So I suggest you to scrub your skin more often. And after scrub, apply body lotion, then your skin would be look glow and even out the tone. |

jlmami as a woman of colour myself i know how you feel i use MDFORTE it has 20% glycolic in there hand and body lotion im telling you give it a couple weeks and the resultsa re amazing
there is a product called emergin c have a high percent of vitamin c as well
i use them both and my pigmentation has gone on my legs they are smooth and even  |

I agree its probably not good to add to a body lotion, the pH will be off and making it ineffective.
I use Paula's Choice AHA body lotion, I think its 10%. I love it, it makes my legs to soft. |

when i complained to my dermatologist how my upper and forearms always look dull, dry and crinkly looking no matter how much I manually exfoliate (with scrubs,micro dermabrasion creams, and loofahs) and moisturize. she told me she personally uses retin A 1.0% to her arms to exfoliate, turn over the skin cells and reveal new fresh skin cells
makes sense to me. i use it on my face...and i am 100% happy with my complexion,tone and texture
as soon as summer is over i am going to start 1.0% retin A. on my arms. |
