Hi everyone,
I know both HA and glycerin are good for attracting moisture to the skin, Im looking for something to mix into my moisturiser to give it a bit of a boost. I already mix Vit C powder into it, and it would be perfect if it was just a bit more moisturising.
HA sounds perfect for this, but so does glycerin, and also glycerin is soooo much cheaper!
Are there any particular reasons to use one over the other? |

Is it possible to try both? I think HA is a much more high end type of product. Glycerin may just leave you feeling sticky instead of hydrated. |

I think HA is much better. No harm in trying both i guess. |

Thanks,
I think I will try using glycerin first and see if that helps with the moisture thing...some people use this mixed with rose water as a pre-moisturiser spray so Im gonna give that a whirl... |

I think HA is two thing from glycerin. I use glycerin as it always has been added to the skincare products. But I can see high glycerin content products can make my skin sticky and oily.
It's not bad to mix them to use. |

I mix Vitamin C powder with glycerin and it is not sticky at all. I used to put in HA as well but then I'm sure I read somewhere not to combine HA with Vitamin C - I forget the reason that was given now.
Another issue with HA is that it tends to ball up if you apply other products or makeup over the top of it. So because of this, I apply HA in the evening. |

I think it should be fine to combine vit C serum and HA. Cellex-C and Skinceuticals manufacture HA serums that are supposed to be applied on top of vit C serum, before applying moisturiser. The Janson Beckett C&C serum, which I use now, contains HA.
My take on HA vs glycerin is that glycerin is not a skin care product that will benefit your skin long term. It attracts water and can make skin look better. HA can be an effective anti-aging skin treatment. HA is present in the body, but the level decrease as we age. |

When I applied HA under my sunscreen the other day, the effect was really greasy so I haven't done it since. But maybe I had too much, of both the HA and the sunscreen. I should try applying it under moisturizer at night... |
