I had the first of three Affirm Laser procedures to my face & hands this past Friday. At $900 a pop, it's expensive but suppose to be a less painful alternative to Fraxel. Today, Tuesday, I still have redness but easily covered it with make up.I thought I'd write my thoughts thus far.
The Affirm Laser is supposed to work on sun damage, freckling, scarring (acne), and wrinkles. There are two heads for the machine. One works on sundamage, the other on tightening(called Multiplex). My first two treatments will be the first kind.
I got numbing cream 30 minutes before. The two passes on my face didn't hurt ,although a bit uncomfortable.Apparently, most people are sensitive around the lip area, but my forehead bothered me most. My fair-skinned face and hands got very red. When the numbing cream wore off, I felt & looked like I had a bad sunburn.
When I awoke the next morning(Saturday), my face had swelled and become even redder. I really could not have gone about my regular activities without major stares. I kept putting Neosporin on.
Sunday, the swelling was down but still red.
Monday, I am a bit red but covered it with makeup. There was slight peeling which I used Epidermix II on.
Results so far:
My laugh lines have diminished. Someone told me I looked younger today, which was weird because I told none of my coworkers. My next treatment is in three weeks ,& I'll keep updating the post. |

It's been three weeks since my first of three Affirm Laser treatments. Honestly, my skin looks the same to me. Possibly, lighter freckles. I have my second treatment tomorrow & hope I see more results. The doctor said the results won't start until after the second treatment, so I'm still hopeful. |

Hello, is Affirm using the same laser technology as ActiveFX (which is similar to Fraxel)? ActiveFX uses CO2 fractional laser technology I think.
What is your skin type and color? |

I'm very fair & have dark brown hair.
Affirm is similar to Fraxel but doesn't go as deep or hurt. |
