I have been using the Cellularskin-rx pentapeptide/Matrixyl type serum and I'm almost out. Any recommendations about similar products that I can think about? (I'm not interested in copper peptides...) |

I love Argiricol. It's at http://www.beautifulskincosmetic.com.
It includes all the proper ratios of four peptides: Argireline, Matrixyl 3000, Renovage, and Syn-Coll.
You can also get a product on that site without Argireline but with all the other peptides if you want.
The price is great too. You can't get another product with Renovage at that price, I don't think.
I also love the Olive Oil Firming Cream from that site. You can get generous samples of most or all of the products for about $1 each. The customer service is awesome, too. There are different specials every week or so, so I wait until the Argiricol is on special before I buy it. |

Here's another one with pentapeptides....
Dermaquest Peptide Mobilizer
This potent serum combines the highest levels of peptides to relax, plump, and firm the fine lines caused by repetitive facial movements. It also increases healing potential and tissue regeneration, relaxes muscle contractions which lead to fine lines and wrinkles, and aids in increasing skin thickness through the stimulation of collagen I & IV, fibronectin, and glycosaminoglycans in the dermal matrix.
Ingredients: water, acetyl hexapeptide-3, glycerin-butylene glycol-palmitoyl pentapaptide-4, oxido reductases-soy peptides-hydrolyzed rice bran extract- palmitoyl oligopeptide-palmitoyl tetrapaptide-7, hesperidin methyl chalcone-steareth-20-dipeptide-2-palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7, macrocystis pyrifera extract, hydrolyzed wheat protein-PVP, sodium hyaluronate, green tea leaf extract, centelia asiatica extract and echinacea purpurea extract, peg-8/smdi copolymer, polysorbate-20, caprylyl glycol, phenoxyethanol, spiraea ulmaria flower extract and amino acids, imperate cylindrica root etract, hydroxyethylcellulose |

Aiva, As to whether I get results from the Cellularskin-rx pentapeptide serum, I'm not really certain. It does seem to decrease fine lines around my eyes and mouth area, but it doesn't do anything for deeper ones, like my crows feet or the "elevens" between the brows. Frankly, I doubt whether any topical serum is up to that challenge. I think I will wait a few weeks after running out to see whether the lack of a peptide serum makes any difference.
Thanks for the very helpful responses--if I decide to re-order a peptide serum, I have a few new ideas. |

CSI Multipeptide Serum
It's on sale at Vitacost for $29.99 (1oz) so I am thinking it might be worth a try especially considering that most of the 16 reviews are 5/5:
• Acetyl Hexapeptide (Argireline®): Contains six amino acids that help reduce the depth of existing wrinkles and helps ease facial tension.
• Pentapeptide-3: Promotes the formation of new collagen, elastin and glucosaminoglycans (GAGs) within the skin to help it stay fresh and radiant looking.
• Palmitoyl Oligopeptide: Also helps stimulate the production of collagen, elastin and glucosaminoglycans, promoting a smooth, healthy looking complexion.
• Tripeptide: Works to temporarily “freeze” muscles and inhibit their contraction to help smooth lines in areas on the face prone to excessive movement and therefore wrinkling.
• Acetyl Glutamyl Heptapeptide-1: Helps regulate muscle contraction and therefore impede the formation of lines and wrinkles attributed to repetitive facial movements. It has also been found effective in lessening the depth of wrinkles.
• Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-3: Helps reduce puffiness around the eyes while gently increasing firmness around the delicate eye area.
Ingredient Listing: Seaweed extract, purified water, hyaluronic acid, acetyl hexpeptide (argireline®), pentapeptide- 3, tripeptide, acetyl glutamyl heptapeptide-1, palmitoyl oligopeptide, palmitoyl tetrapeptide-3, phenoxyenthanol, ethylhexylglycerin.
With all those peptides and hyaluronic acid, I wonder if it might not also be a good DIY base? (Not that I know anything--I don't cook. )

Wow!!! That's an amazing price, havana8! The ingredient list looks identical to the Cellularskin-rx SuperMax Peptide serum. (I know that they are marketing a product made by a manufacturer, and it seems that this one may be the same stuff.)
I had considered Cellbone, which also has a similar multi-peptide serum, but this one is just too well priced not to try. |

flitcraft,
Please enlighten a novice: what is the advantage of pentapeptides over a regime of Retin-A/Vit C serum?
TIA |

Yes I'm wondering the same thing. There just are too many antiaging active ingredients out there! Thanks! |

Peptides like Matrixyl, Matrixyl 3000, and argirilene aren't a replacement for retinoids and Vitamin C, which are the current gold standard for anti-aging skincare. But there have been a number of studies (mainly commissioned by the manufacturers) suggesting that polypeptides like those in these serums could be helpful in decreasing fine lines and wrinkles through enhanced collagen production and through interfering with nerve messages to frown, squint, etc. These studies need to be taken with a grain of salt (or maybe a whole spoonful?) because they are paid for and controlled by companies that own the patent rights. Not the same as double blind, peer reviewed scientific research, which retinoids and vitamin C have going for them. Still, the commissioned studies are promising and there is a good bit of anecdotal evidence from consumers suggesting that polypeptide serums are effective. And, unlike retinoids and vitamin C, there doesn't appear to be a problem with irritation, clogged pores, flaking, or peeling.
So I wouldn't replace Retin A or Vitamin C with polypeptide serums. But they could be a good addition to an anti-aging skincare regimen, and they could be especially helpful for those who can't tolerate retinoids or C serum. |

Can Pentapeptides be used together with Copper Peptides? |

No reason that I know of why pentapeptides and copper peptides can't be used together. If anyone knows differently, perhaps they could chime in here. |

I use the one from NCN. It's really good. I purchase it for my mom as well. I've also used the copper serum with the matrixyl. It's a matrixyl 3000. |

I've ordered the CSI multipeptide serum from Vitacost. When it comes, I'll compare it to the Cellularskin-rx Supermax serum that seems to have the same ingredients in the same order. |

Yes, please do post a review for the CSI Multipeptide serum. I have been eyeing that at vitacost for awhile, but have not had a chance to try it. |

I'm glad I found this thread... I've been looking at Matrixyl all day!!!
I've used NCN's older version... It's a lovely texture... and I'm considering her 20% mix.
I also use, Retin A, CP's and Vit C. One of the Vit. C products I use is an Enzyme Peel from Arbonne, and I really like it...and I was considering some other products within the same line... they have what they call a Gelee lift serum that appears to have these goods in them... inclusive of Vit. C, Retinol etc... Anyone else try it????
The one from Vitacost looks nice too... oh the choices!!! |

am: cleanse, phloretin cf, peptides, avene s/s.
pm: cleanse, taz. |

Claudia,
Please tell us about the enzyme peel from arbonne and compare it to Nanci's pumpkin peel. Also what is the difference in the new Matrixyl, is 5% more a big deal?
