For the last year, I have brushed my teeth 3x a day. Unfortunately, due to poor brushing I have some light yellow stains and greyish torn tooth enamel. I considered using crest premium white strips but figured it might partially fix the yellow but not the grey. I bought a tooth bleaching kit but have yet to use it due to some horrific stories about swelling lips and bleached gums.

What should I do to get rid of the grey and go back to the younger, healthier smile I once had?

I think you should consult a dentist. You may have to go with a veneer.

You can only get rid of the yellow stains with a tooth bleaching product. I agree that you might need veneers for the greyish teeth.

I agree that a dentist is your best bet.
Even if you have sensitivity, you can always use the dentist's bleaching kit once or twice a week, for several weeks to get a good result... I think very few people can actually use the system every night for a week to 10 days.
The bleaching kits you get in the stores, or products like go smile seem to only work temporarily, and get the light surface stains

I don't know if it will work for torn enamel - for that, I would see a dentist for a consultation.

Otherwise, look for the DIY info here on EDS:
(Auro Ear (Wax Removal) Drops and/or GlyOxide oral hygiene product) - carbamide peroxide www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=23134

do you always brush straight after a meal or do you wait for at least 30 minutes? my dentist warned me that I was overbrushing and all it took was 3-4 months to completely weaken all my enamel and cause a lot of micro cavities. I have to rinse my mouth out straight after a meal to neutralise all acid and wait at least 2-3 hours after eating before brushing.

I am now using Apagard Royal toothpaste which is supposed to help re-mineralize the teeth gradually. I would highly recommend you use a remineralization gel before starting any whitening treatments.

Hi miranets, can you tell me where you get Apagard? Have not heard of it previously. Also how long have you been using it? Thanks!

That's good info, miranets. Thank you.

Where do you live as I've never heard of this toothpaste? I'm in the U.S.

I use Sensodyne Pro Namel. It was launched in Europe earlier this year (I would think it's available in US, as well?). It's formulated to help hardening tooth enamel and preventing erosion from acids.
