Hi,
I reacted to the wipes... it may have been a kind of unconscious 'placebo' reaction... I looked at the ingredients and freaked out but used them to begin with nevertheless... after using the safetox the skin left the mark of the patch, but also around it looked a wee bit red... so stopped using the wipes after about five times later... after all if you look at the ingredients its got a lot of 'paraben's'... not good for the skin or the health!
I started using just something to get rid of any grease that would prevent the patch to stick properly... just cleaning the centre of my forehead for the patch to be able to stick properly (sometimes I even just used a cotton disk dabbed in alcohol!) Must try out the ACV!!
I do have a question though... I do facial exercises, and I'm just wondering if it may counteract the benefits of exercising the brow area... It shouldn't really as the exercises also try to make the occipitalis to kick in the same way as 'Safetox?, but the exercises don't seem to 'relax' the brow area -at least not for me, but are supposed to build them and fill out any lines in the area. A bit confused, obviously at the moment about this. I must ask on a facial exercise post!
Sorry, I was giving my opinion on the wipes and my mind lingered on to another issue!
Hugs, A. |

When I got the safetox I stopped doing facial exercises that invovled the forehead. Although facial exercises have done wonders for me in most areas I haven't had success with the forehead wrinkles until Safetox. For me the Safetox is totally dealing with the 11s and forehead wrinkles as well as opened up my eyes more. |

Hi Toby!
Glad you're around and able to answer so soon!
I'm all mixed up with this actually . I quite enjoy using 'Safetox', it relaxes my forehead, but at the same time I'm trying to 'build' my forehead muscles... so one and another just don't seem to get on well...
And, on the other hand, I feel that 'building' the occipitalis seems more logical to keep a free wrinkle, smooth forehead (if I can manage to train my eyebrows from shooting upwards every so often, or build such an occipitalis that my eyebrows move it and not move just the forehead skin that would be fabulous!!)
Well, WOW, thanks Namesake!!! That is what I have to achieve: my eyebrows moving and the occipitalis moving, NOT the skin of my forehead!
Drop forehead exercises and concentrate on the occipitalis and do exercises for it to strengthen or let Safetox do it's work!
I just seem to have had a Dejà Vú!! At least for me. Not joking.
I am going to concentrate on getting the occipitalis working hard!!
Thank you Toby!!
Lots of Hugs, Anne. |

So far, so good!!! I've dropped using the wipes although I only used them about two or three times in the beginning, it seemed to be enough to trigger an ugly reaction. I'm back using the Cefaly, and so far the bumps haven't reappeared, however I'll let you know after today, because I'm on a Cefaly marathon as I'm in Japan, and my shellfish and wheat (which is in all their soy!) allergies have triggered a massive one. If I don't react after today - I've been wearing it for two hours already! - then I think I'll be safe, and it was the wipes.
By the way, as I've mentioned, I get upwards of two weeks of migraines one week before my period and also after. This month, I did not get a single migraine! Even though my Cefaly use was somewhat reduced because of the reaction, I'm thinking that the week before, when I was using it a lot may have had a preventative effect, and perhaps my new supplement of Butterbur and Feverfew helped too. Either way, it was amazing. Now all I need is something to allow me to eat anything I like.... |

For those of you using the Safetox and live in the U.S., where did you purchase yours? I am not familiar with any of the companies in the UK so am looking for someone reputable.
Also wondering where the best place is to buy batteries and electrodes. Would so appreciate your advice.
Thanks |

Hi songbird
y
Many of us have purchased from winhealth.com
You can use rechargable batteries, some good ones are mentioned a couple of pages back on this thread. I've been using the same batteries that came with it, and so far I've had upwards of 40 uses... electrodes can be used until they don't stick to your head anymore and even then you could use a bit of medical tape. Apparently they can last well beyond the 10 recommended uses. I guess I'll be buying electrodes from winhealth too, although I'm worried about exorbitant shipping prices. If anyone has a better idea, chip in! |

Hi Toby - so you were not able to get the opening up of the eye area as successfully with the TV? Also on the site they say that it can help reduce NL's. Have you seen this? Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question but I can pull back by scalp muscles and move my ears back. Do you think doing this and massaging the front frown muscles once a day might do the same thing? Or do you really feel like the current is relaxing the muscles in a different deeper way? Thanks. |

I haven't noticed any effect on the n/l area at all with this device. Tua does lift the brow and open the eyes but there is something that happens with Safetox with opening the middle of the face up that is more youthful looking. The companies website explains it well. For me nothing other than Safetox has dealt with the forehead wrinkles or 11s. |

I totally get what you are saying about opening up the middle of the face. I doubt people in their 30's or even early 40's will see it yet but as you get closer to 50 the whole face gets pulled in towards the center. Eyes look shorter and face is just more pinched looking. I was going to ask if you thought if using the TV while pulling my ears and scalp back would be equal to the Safetox but I think the answer for you would be no. What about frowning when at the computer from eye strain or glare or when outside? Seems like I would still frown. The Safetox does not freeze things the way Botox does right? So it is still an option? I know when I was even in my 20's and early 30's I really could not frown. Not only were my muscles not strong enough but my skin was too thick to make a good 11. Perhaps filler to thicken the area in addition to the Safetox is needed for those of us who frown due to eye strain. |

I got great relief from my migraine with the Cefaly (induced from seafood and wheat allergy while in Japan). Usually a migraine of this magnitude would lay me out for days, but I managed to nip it in the bud with a few long Cefaly treatments. Unfortunately I did end up with a skin reaction again, but I just kept plastering cortisone cream on, and it's just a bit itchy and scaly rather than full blown blisters. If I just use it for twenty minutes a day as a prophylactic (once the reaction dies down) it should be controllable. Not ideal, but still worth it for the relief. |

Will safetox help with my droopy eyelids? No idea why but over the years my eyelids have become hooded and smaller.
My forehead has some fine lines too. Can it lift the forehead? |

Hi,
I will try to answer a few questions I've seen here. (I'm not really active in here, but not posting doesn't mean that I'm not reading )
First, Trigger, I know that it is probably disappointing for you and we are really sorry for you. But we are working hard on this issue. I can't let you say that the product hasn't been tested because, as a medical company, here in europe, we had to go through a lot of test and heavy procedures to get our company certified as ISO Medic 13485 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_13485).
I only heard about one case of allergy to the electrode (if vicky told you 2, she probably know that better than me), we have contacted her, we took her electrode back, we had it tested by specialist, we contacted dermatologist to know where it could come from. An allergy to the gel of the electrode is really rare because there is not many thing you could be allergic to in it. We can't do anything about it, all the gel are the same worldwide, we have contacted pretty much all the manufacturers and there is no solution at the moment.
"Are they refusing to distribute it in the US ?"
Well, how could we ? You are like 300million in the US ?
STX-Med is a pretty young company, created in 2004 in Belgium. We have launched the Safetox in 2006 and the Cefaly in 2008. We focused our action in the EU because it is our main market at the moment, having out product certified in europe is a hard work and takes time. We are working on the certification for the US at the moment but it takes months, years to have it, really.
We are really happy about all the great results you are having with our products and we are already available to answer your question or to listen to your recommendation.
Have a nice day
Kevin |

From my use of the Safetox it does deal with blocking the frowning I automatically did. The muscles are being retrained...that is why in the beginning you are using it twice a day every day. Since I have never used botox I can't compare but I would think it doesn't immobilize the area like botox does but it works toward retraining and requires maintenance to keep the frowning at bay. The website does mention that botox can be used along with it especially for people 50+. I am 54 and HAD major frown wrinkles and find I am more than thrilled with the results of Safetox alone. |

I didn't take my Safetox on holiday with me, but will start using it again now I'm back.
I agree with the remarks about the "opening up" of the middle of the forehead. Whilst, thanks I believe to Cellular SkinRx's Relax-a-Line, my forehead fine lines and 11's are minimal, even I noticed that the skin seemed tighter across my forehead after using the Safetox. In people with more problematic lines than myself, I can imagine this making a really big difference and definitely giving an "opening up" effect.
I'm very glad to hear that the Cefaly is helping your migraines, trigger. Hopefully, cutting down the usage time (you seemed to have to use it for very prolonged periods at first) as a preventative/ameliorating measure might be enough to make a good difference for you, whilst lessening the effect of any reaction to the gel. Fingers crossed for you. |

trigger - I am so happy to hear of your success using the Cefaly and just as sad to hear of your skin's reactions. I really don't like hearing that you need to use cortisone so often. There must be something else you can use instead since contant use of cortisone is so damaging to your skin. I see that you use CPs - perhaps using SB's BioHeal would be a better option for you. It's meant for rashes and its much more healing (rather than damaging like cortisone) to use.Members of my family and I have used it with really good results.
You could also try using tamanu oil (mixed at a 1:3 porportion w/ another oil, like emu). Tamanu is really good to use for rashes, wounds and sunburns, just like the BioHeal. Anything would be better than constant use of cortisone. That will thin the skin (not what you want, I’m sure). |

Can anyone tell me what the shipping weight is of the Safetox (Kevin, perhaps?)
I have a GF in the UK and I wonder if it would save any $$ having her ship it to me. (Since it seems like the S&H are a bit high).
I am lemming for this so bad |

I think ultimately I may need Botox to look my best but if the Safetox can prolong it's effect then it is worth the money. Also what can we lose by trying the Safetox first? It it less than one Botox treatment and there is a chance it might do the trick. There are certainly things about the Botoxed look that I am not wild about and I am on the fence about the long term safely of the stuff. |

~800gram or ~1.6pound but the packaging can change from one shop to another. But the weight should be pretty much the same. |

foxe, thanks for your suggestion re. my rash. You're right, I really don't like using the cortisone. As a child I had horrific excema in the creases of my elbows (inner arms), behind my knees, and sometimes between my thighs. In my sleep I would scratch till I was raw, and it was SOOO itchy and oozing. Consequently I used extremely strong cortisone creams, which did in fact thin the skin (particularly noticeable on my arms) and it looks far more aged than the skin surrounding. Quite upsetting, but with the discomfort, it seemed worth it at the time. I'm using a 1 percent OTC cream for the cefaly rash, but will definitely look into your suggestions as an alternative.
My forehead is a bit bumpy, but if I get some cream on straight after treatment, it's preventing the blistery itchy oozy mess I had initially. A bit of a bumpy rash is worth it for the results of the cefaly. I'm also wondering if something called Tacgel which I've heard makes electrodes last longer and adhere better would prevent the gel in the electrodes directly touching my skin and would lessen or prevent a reaction. Or if the tacgel has the same ingredient as the gel in the electrodes that my skin is sensitive to. Any way I can find out the ingredients of the electrode gel Kevin? That would make my search easier. |

I am worried about just throwing out all these batteries. Can they be recycled? Don't they take forever to degrade? Maybe they are biodegradable these days? Hope so. This is worse than my son's toys and I always felt horrible about that. |

Hi everyone,
I ordered the safetox and it arrived yesterday. I have only used it about 3 times so I can't really see anything yet, but my brow does feel quite heavy afterwards. I don't really get botox anymore because my brow dropped everytime and it always felt heavy afterwards.
Has anyone else experienced this with safetox and will it subside? Is there such a thing as over use with this device?
many thanks

Hi everyone,
well i've tried the safetox a couple of more times now, and whilst my eyebrows do appear slightly higher, my eyes are really puffy along the socket line. They also look very red and shrunken. Did anybody else experience this ?
thanks

oh my goodness that sounds terrible Jackie! Red, shrunken, and puffy? How many times did you use it in one day?
I've read many reports on EDS that when people have either overdone the topicals, or facial exercise and massage, the skin can react negatively, depending on how much 'damaged' (read *aged*) the skin is. The answer is to go more slowly.
My update:
The cefaly is soothing for me to use, and makes me feel as though it's helping me manage my 'frontal' migraines, even if just having a tool to use makes me feel somehow in control of this horrible condition. It has in no way gotten rid of my migraines, or even lessened them. Actually, I've had one for at least three weeks now, and have been doing everything humanly possible to control or lessen it with no success. Unfortunately the cefaly gives me itchy watery blisters where the pad sits on my skin, so one forty minute session in the morning is the most I can manage. Even then I need to slather myself in cortisone cream at least ten times a day afterwards to reduce the blisters into more of an itchy scabby condition. It's unpleasant, and unattractive, and I wouldn't be able to use this device if I didn't have a fringe (bangs) at the moment.
Still, I continue to use it because I have hope that its doing *something*, and because while it's on my constant migraine is reduced and I find it relaxing.
My husband, who rarely gets migraines likes to use it, too. I use program one, which is very strong (almost painful really), and is used for treatment of migraine, and prophylaxis (prevention). My husband prefers program three which is for stress relief and relaxation. He describes the sensation as tingly. I wouldn't say it's gotten rid of his elevens (he had deep ones and a bit of sag), but I always notice after he's done a session that they are flattened quite markedly, and look less deep. Certainly not a miracle cure, though.
I have an appointment with a specialist this afternoon who treats migraine with botox. My neurologist thinks it's worth a try, though it certainly doesn't help everyone. I'll try anything! |

Hi trigger,
well I only used it twice on each day, but maybe I have overdone it as I was using other gadgets. I really hope it passes, such a waste otherwise.
I was also wondering, if having botox causes my brow to drop, would the safetox cause the same thing ?
thanks
