I have a question that has recently come to light. My hairstylist starting doing hair from her home about two years ago. I continued tipping her like I normally do, thinking that's just what you do. Then I had an aunt say that when they do hair from home you don't have to tip them because they don't have to rent/ pay for their chair as they would if they worked in a salon. But, if this was true, wouldn't my hairstylist have said something? Or was she just assuming I was doing it out the goodness of my checking account?

What do you think? I think maybe I will still tip, but not a full 20%? To show appreciation?

Tips are still appropriate. Its a thank you for a job well done. I would still tip 20% if you happy and that is what you would normally tip.

Tips are for the service you received. I go to a spa that it in someones home, and I still tip. Tipping is always a good idea, that is the profession. But......don't get me started on tips! When I go to a place, like to get coffee...and I use my credit card-receipt prints for me to sign it, and there is a line item for me to add a tip. That irritates me! You poured my coffee, which is what you get paid for to begin with. It is not a special service of any type, and you are asking me to tip you before I even take a sip of my coffee. Guess what....that line always gets big fat "ZEROS". Sorry if anyone on here works at a coffee place, I just don't think it is right.
