I'm looking into the Zotos Texture EFX perm for my fine, straight hair. I read about it on the Zotos website. It sounds like a very conditioning perm - there's two types, normal hair and color-treated. The website says it actually leaves the hair in better condition than before the perm. Sounds too good to be true, eh? I found a salon in my area that uses Zotos and she's going to get it from her beauty supplier and get back to me. I have no experience with Zotos so I hope someone here has and will respond.

Oh that sounds really interesting. a perm that leaves your hair better. Is it a do it yourself product. I was reading the website and it sounded like you purchase it and do it yourself.

I got a "perm" several years ago that was supposed to be non-damaging, and it SO damaged my hair. Not as bad as a regular perm, it didn't melt the ends or anything. But in the long run it dulled and damaged my hair and it still isn't the same. Zotos sounds very enticing...i would give anything for some wave/curl/bounce to my hair. If you get it, PLEASE update. If it works, I would probably have to wait several years to make sure the damage from the last one is totally gone.

While perms have better technology these days, all are still damaging. It is a chemical process and more likely to cause damage if colour and or highlights are there.

I had many perms in the late '80s and '90s done over highlights. While the perm choosen is important it is more important to pick a good stylist. Be sure that she is carefully checking and watching the time. It is very easy to over process hair by just a few minutes.

That's too good to be true. It's not possible for it to leave your hair in better condition. Maybe a better designed perm solution and an experienced stylist will minimize damage, but there will still be damage. But if you really want the perm, maybe you won't mind the damage that goes with it. Some perms turn out great, some look awful so it's a risk.

I had never had a good perm until I had one made by ISO. isohair.com. There are only a couple of salons in my area that use them. It turn out great everytime. Very natural looking and no frizz. My hair was even highlighted before I got the perm. I love it. My stylist uses the regular perm, not a temporary one. It lasts forever. I just reperm when the roots grow out.

My hair is naturally very fine and flat. It doesn't look good without a perm in it.

Well, I couldn't find a salon for this particular Zotos perm until I spoke to a lady in my town who owns a salon. She uses Zotos and Tressa perms. Has anyone heard of Tressa?

I found out that the Zotos Texture EFX is extremely gentle in that it only provides texture and most people are not happy with it. She can get it but recommends Tressa, they actually have an educator at the salon and have many different formulas. The one she recommends is more gentle for color-treated, damage-prone hair and will provide curl as opposed to wave. She has lots of experience with both Zotos and Tressa. Cost including haircut will be $75. I will update again with specifics on the perm when and if I decide to have it done.

$75 is inexpensive for perm and cut together. You should give it a try.

Yes, I thought that $75 was inexpensive since my haircut last month at a more trendy salon was about that same price. I'm still contemplating the Tressa perm because I'm concerned with damage. The Zotos texturizer perm really does sound super gentle though.

PBI I had to chuckle at this thread: You're looking to add curl to your straight hair and I'd give anything to have shiny, swingy straight hair Laughing (I'm a 3b curly girl)

Ahem ... back to our topic Wink

I am the same way! I have thick, wavy hair with tons of body that I fight with all summer along since I like to wear it straight. I would love to have straight hair! I guess everyone wants what they do not have!
