Okay I just read a New York magazine article entitled “About-Face”. It’s about the new direction of plastic surgery. Apparently taunt skin is out and plump is in. Anyway, it was an interesting read and I was wondering what others thought of it. What is you perception of beautiful? Are people taking plastic surgery too far? Will these procedures one day become as common as a trip to the grocery store?

I'm not the least surprised. Five weeks ago, I had injections, into my cheeks, and I love it and so apparently does everyone who knows me. I've had four of my clients make appointments with the same injector I used because they like the way I looked afterwards. I find this funny because while they were running to the phone I still had black eyes. LOL I only had one cc in both cheeks but what a difference it has made. I am slender and fit and the issues I was having with my skin was due to loss of fat in my face. I have already increased my weight but I have no intention of gaining more weight to put some fat back in my face. I love the results. |

I'm glad to hear you love your results! I checked out the website for Dr. David Rosenberg and the before and after pictures are amazing.

BH,
What part of the cheeks do they inject? Does it help with the sagging at the sides of the mouth?? |

Yes! It lifts things up where they were. I think where they inject, but not sure of the technicalities, is where you've lost facial fat. In my case, she injected the areas right below the orbital bones. |

What did that set you back, if you don't mind me asking? |

Yeah I tend to agree: the Joan Rivers look is so over.
Before I got injections, I would try facial exercises to plump up those tight cheeks. FlexEffects gets a lot of posts here. |

But the cheek injections are not permanent, correct? How long are they supposed to last? |

Funny to see this post I just read that article yesterday...Very interesting and the results are awesome. Lets just hope the popularity of this kind of procedure will bring the price down. |

Amylola,
I researched injectors for about a year, dilly dallying around with it and settled on someone in Chicago, which is a good drive for me but I felt it was worth it. I paid 510.00 a cc with any additional cc you would then pay 460.00. How long an injectable lasts depends on which you're using and where on your face you're injecting, and your body.
Fawnie,
No offense meant but I went to the website you recommended awhile ago and didn't like the facial structure changes I saw in the before and afters, Obviously, it's a popular program around here so I'll duck. |

Its good that it is not permanet so if you don't like the results this time, you can live and learn hoping to get better results next time which is just few months away. |

I have to agree with fawnie, the Joan Rivers look is so over. I can’t believe it was ever in. She looks so unnatural and “plastic”.
Anyway, I was just recalling a television program that aired years ago. I don’t recall the name of the show, but it was about the science of beauty. Apparently, women like Halle Berry have perfectly symmetrical and sized features that are considered beautiful universally. It broke down the measurements and other details which were backed up by many studies. I tried finding the episode information online, and found what could be the show I watched. It’s called “Survival of the Prettiest” based on the book by Nancy Etcoff and aired on the discovery channel. I’m definitely going to pick up the book. It makes me wonder if our perception of beauty changes with time or is predetermined at birth. Maybe it’s a mixture of both?
