avinne, your progress sounds great. What a great idea to use 3% on the ones that are improving well.
A quick update here. I did my skin tags and what I presume to be SK's 2 days in a row. I decided to leave them for the next 2 days to see what happens. I'm now on my second day off, and I think I'll go again for another couple of days. I'll update again later. |

An update:
I have been using 35% peroxide at night on all the SK except my nose. On my nose, there is hardly a scab and the skin is nearly smooth and supple. No hard or rough spots that I can notice.
On my cheeck, I treated Mon, Tues and Wed pm. There is a flat scab on it now and it is a little tender, but I think it's gone, so I will leave it to heal.
By my ear, it is very tender, but the scab is still a little raised. I can't see it as well to treat so I think I've irritated more skin around it than the rest. I will treat it through the weekend.
The SK in my hairline is now about the size of a pencil eraser, and maybe 1 mm high. Like about 1/2 of a tiny pea stuck to the side of my head, instead of a skittle. It is not mushroomed out anymore, and feels dry and hard. I will continue to treat at least until Sunday, and might do 2 treatments/day on Sat. & Sun, last treatment Mon, then see if I can let it heal. I go back to work Tues.
The one on my chin is still pretty red and swollen. It is only slightly raised, but I can see where the SK is, it's kind of wart-like in stead of smooth skin. It's a little smaller than a pencil eraser, and it was about 1 cm wide when I started. I think there was 1 there and then little ones were starting to spread around it, because it was shaped funny. I had visions of it becoming huge like the one in my hair, and I did NOT want that. I don't know how deep it is, but I'm sure it will take a few days to get rid of it. I will treat as much as I can through the weekend, then maybe start to give it a break Mon PM. It would be nice not to have to hide a swollen red thing on my chin next week. |

Hi MPSTAT,
I have a few questions as I am new to this sight...I have SK's on my legs..mostly flat and not too dark. I went out and I bought the 35% H2O2 per your information on this sight. Please explain what percentage I should start at, how to prep my legs before application, how to apply since I have several on my legs and how often to apply. I am getting marrried in Sept and I would like to have them gone before then. Also do you have pictures I could view of before and after using the H2O2?
Thanks!

Christine - Welcome to the forum!
On page 1 of this thread in the second half of the page I provided a summary of an abstract for hydrogen peroxide treatment. Read it and it should give you a good idea on the approach.
There are no hard rules for H2O2 treatments, and we are still in learning mode. You can try starting with weaker solution, say 20% and work your way up as needed. Many people use 35% strait from the bottle. Allow plenty of time for healing, and recovery from possible discoloration issues.
I do not have pictures, but maybe other members of the forum have them and would be willing to share with the rest of us. |

Came across the web site forum while searching for a home remedy for SK on the face. Bought a bottle of the 35% from an aforementioned seller.
I'm a 55 y/o man, with light skin and sun damage on the temples, nose, etc. from many years playing tennis in the sun.
Many spots have appeared and every year a drive to the specialist to have him freeze them off.
So I mixed 50/50 tap water and used a cotton ball to gently swab the SK areas being very careful not to get any in my eyes. It stings alittle but goes away in a short time. Slowly my skin has improved. Use full strength on trouble spots (but it does burn!).
Once a week, and let the skin heal, I'm very happy with results and expect it to improve. Thanks to all. |

My H2O2 arrived today, and I'm documenting the treatment I'm using.
1. I neglected to put rubber gloves on and whatever I got on my hands, stung a little and turned the skin white. I immedicate washed my hands with soap and water, then put 100% Gel Aloe Vera on my hands. No problem. The white color on my skin soon disappeared and the skin on my fingers went back to normal.
2. I poured a small amount of H2O2 in a small, clean glass dish.
3. I washed a few areas where I had keratosis lesions.
4. With a clean Que-Tip, I dipped it in the H2O2 and dabbed it on the keratosis areas on my arm and on the side of my face. I wanted to try the full strength first. The skin test turned out to be on my fingers at the beginning, and that worked out fine. So I didn't dilute the 35% H2O2. My keratosis are really tough.
5. My skin stung a little, and turned white, then a little pinkish. The H2O2 went right for the keratosis and surrounded the areas. It really showed up how much I had on the side of my face! The lesions have even swell a little. The stinging is a little intense at first, but you get used to it, and it soon goes away.
6. I waited a while and didn't wash anything off. I've made two more applications the same as above. I'll leave it at that for this first try.
7. Tomorrow I'll apply some of the Aloe Vera Gel before I got to work. When I get back home, I'll try another application of the H2O2 on the same places. I'm hoping to wake up in the morning with some progress showing.
I've been to Dermatologist for years with this problem. Every treatment they used has been useless, and the scraping painful and usless. They are also very expensive, if you can even talk a Dermatologist into doing something. My keratosis has gotten worse and worse, and a miserable itch comes with mine. I live covered in calamine lotion. I'm very grateful to all of you for your comments on this forum. |

Oh Magnolia - Please be careful!
Please read my previous posts. I was very excited also to use the H202 and I went overboard. I have permanent scarring on my foot, which is just a foot, and not that big of a deal to me since my feet are already hideous from the SK, but on your face...Please, please, go slow and be careful.
To top it all off, now that my foot has healed, except for some scarring, I still have many SKs!
Since my last post I have applied the H202 on other SKs individually with a paint brush, applying directly to the SK only. Really, with the amount of SK that I have on my body this one at a time method feels pointless and never ending, but since my foot was not exactly a success story, I wanted to try it. I couldn't give up. I've done one on my finger, and a couple on my hand and arm. I'm happy to say that at this time, those that I treated individually are gone. I'm not sure if the ones on my feet are just tougher (I have had for over 20 yrs) or why they did not all die. Don't get me wrong..Some did, but not all...not all by at least half and because of my own over-enthusiasm there is damage left behind.
That's all. I really just wanted to say be careful. I wish I had gone slower.
Take Care... |

I don't know if we talk about emotions here, but,I would like to hear from anyone that would like to share with me. SK has affected my life dramatically.I am in my 50's and single. I have been single for several years. My EX made fun of my SK. Now, I am really hesitant to date. I have no SK on my face or neck, but, my back and shoulders have SK. Explaining SK to someone is difficult and I am afraid they will see me as repulsive. Does anyone else experience these feelings and how do you cope with them? Thank you...Suzy |
Hi Suzy.
You are not alone with this...Not at all.
I am also single, in my 40's. I have been single since I was 29 and my SKs are so much worse now than they ever were back then. I rarely wear shorts. I choose shoes that cover as much of my feet as possible. The SKs on my arms (I like to tell myself) mostly look like freckles so I don't let it bother me there, but I avoid being touched because the SKs might be felt. I can't imagine ever feeling comfortable enough with my body this way to want to share it with anyone.
I've said enough, and I'm sorry I don't have any advice for you. I just wanted you to know that you are not alone. |

Hi,
This is the first time I have posted. I have been lurking for awhile. Since reading about this "miracle" cure here I ordered a quart of Hydrogene Pyroxide from Garden of Eden.
Results so far. I have used it every night on a big one on my arm and the ones on my shoulder I can reach. I pour it on a cotton ball and have at it. I soak it. It burns like heck but I will do anything to get these gross beings off me. So far the one on my arm has peeled down to just a funky looking scab. One just fell off my back in the shower. The rest are being a bit stubborn, but they don't know me. I will persevere till the end.
It has been about a week and a few days, but they are getting a bit lighter in color and not as raised. However, when I apply the peroxide they do raise up and get red. I think it just takes time to break through their barrier and then they submit. Hopefully!!
I also some years ago went to a dermotologist and she butchered me. Just took a scapel and scaped about ten off and then walked out of the room. I was pouring in blood and no one came back. I finally got some paper towels and helped myself to bandaids. Needless to say, I never went back there again. That was the strangest experience I have ever had with a medical doctor.
So you can see how excited I am to be able to do something for myself. No one wants to help you with these. I had a doctor look at them not long ago to make sure they were still Keratosis and they said they would remove the large ones at the tune of $250.00 each. I would go bankrupt at that rate.
Good luck you you all and just be patient.

Oh one more thing. SuzyIQ, I know how you feel exactly. Matter of fact my ex use to say the same thing. Just get in there and be determined to get them off. If I can do it, anyone can.
Oh, to get them off your back use one of those sponge dish washing things that have a long handle. If it comes with a scrubber just peel it off and the soft sponge is perfect for applying to your back. I am very resourceful.

I'm going on my second week of using H2O2 on the massive amounts of keratosis I have. Even though nothing has "fallen off" yet, I've noticed them drying up and the terrible itching
has been removed from every place I've applied
the H2O2. But I do have a warning concerning the fumes. I have a small, old bathroom, without ventilating. I poured a small amount of
the H2O2 in a small bowl that sits on the bathroom sink. I dip a Q-tip in it. Over the weekend I applied it to both side of my face where there is a crop of old keratosis from my ear down to by chin. I also applied it across by back-shoulder area, where there is another large crop of karatosis. All of these combined elements, too close to my eyes, caused the H2O2fumes to irritate my eyes terribly. I was very careful not to get actual liquid in my eyes, but I never thought of the fumes. I spent a few hours with painful, burning eyes. I spent it at the kitchen sink flushing out as much of the fumes from my eyes with water as I could. Then went to bed with a wet bathcloth over my eyes. I woke up this morning happy that I still had eyesight. I've gone to the pharmacy and purchased a number of eye washes and other eye remedies. A hard earned lesson. When I do more applications that are in the neighborhood of my eyes, it will be in a well ventilated room, and wearing protective eye covering.
So far, I'm happy with the results I've gotten from using H2O2

I wanted to thank "Hopeful For Help" for her kind and concerned message about doing too much too fast. I'm like you Hopeful-just drive in. But I have learned to slow down and expect that some things will just take time. I read all the messages from beginning to end before I even ordered the H2O2. I'm very grateful for others who have posted their experiences and have saved us from many disasters-and have given us hope and patience. If this remedy works on me, it will work on anyone as I have very tough, old keratois, and a sold mas of them in some places on my back and shoulders.
They're a terrible mess and I have suffered for years. I'm so happy with just this little progress I've had so far.

I read this forum ordered the H2O online and have used it 4 times over a 2 month period. Results were great 80% totally disappeared with no problems. UNTILL>>>>>>>> I went back to the spray tanning salon, then they all came out again because although they looked like they were all gone, when my tan was gone I guess they are still actually there but only show up when the tanning stuff is absorbed into them and then they stand out just as bad as before! *sigh* I really thought they were all gone :( I was looking really good and was so happy to have blemish free shin again. I have no option but to spray tan since sun is likely what started this problem in the first place. I wonder if I should use the regular tanning bed. Hmmmmm. I'm in a delema because I really look so much better with a tan. DARN IT!!!!!! |

Most on this board are against being exposed to sun for prolonged periods of time to avoid damage associated with it. Think positive, and save your beauty for the years to come by avoiding tanning salons! Congratulations on your previous success with H2O SK treatments, and have successful second round!

Countrygirl I agree with mpstat and reakon you should go another round. While you have the spray tan on you can see where to apply the H2O2, so go for it now. |

Help please!
Can someone advise if I can use industrial grade 100% h2o2 and dilute it with distilled water accordingly (to 30%)? Thanks! |

I'm sorry I didn't read this entire thread so plse forgive if someone has already given this advice. I recently was at the GP office and mentioned that I needed to get a mole looked at on my back (didn't know about SK then). He said oh that's SK and he left the room and came back with a styrofoam cup with some liquid nitrogen in it (dry ice basically). He said I had a couple other little ones (the one I was concerned about was a real mother ! )
With a large q tip he dabbed on the LN about 10 dabs on each one and I couldn't really feel it at all. He said they will just fall off in about 10 days. It took about 5 days too look like they were doing anything and then sure enough they dried up and fell off. It was NOTHING and if I ever get anymore I will just go to a Beer supply place and buy some dry ice, break it up and treat them myself. |

secretly - liquid nitrogen might be good for a few number of isolated SK. But it is not suitable for treating larger areas. Liquid nitrogen would damage all skin that comes in contact with it regardless if it is SK or healthy skin. Some of the options discussed on this thread help to treat SK only while leaving healthy skin intact. |
