Hi every guy. I have learned that most of the cosmetics avaiable in the market contain synthetic chemical which is harmful to the health. Is there anyone who can tell me that whether there is a way to make the home-made and effective cosmetics for skin care? Many thanks |

Hi Cyrus, there are quite a few good natural based product ranges on the market these days. Most health food stores stock several brands. Without knowing what country you are in it is difficult to suggest any particular brands. Also you can certainly make some of your own cosmetic preparations quite simply. Look through this forum and you will find many recipes. However to get you started, here are a few basic ideas.
Cleanse your skin using the oil cleansing method. There are details about it on this forum and many others, but basically you just massage a vegetable oil that suits your skin type into your face, soak a wash cloth in warm/hot water, place that over your face for a 30 seconds or so to allow the steam to penetrate your skin and then wipe it off. There are also vegetable oil based cleansers available, including vegetable oil sorbolenes which will effectively remove makeup and sunblock.
Exfoliate your face by making a face mask from yoghurt (lactic acid), honey, orange or lemon juice (glycolic acid) or use something like cucumber, pinapple, papaya which contain enzymes that help remove dead skin cells. Make a mechanical exfoliant by rubbing oatmeal into your skin (fairly gentle) or make a sugar scrub using oil and sugar (a bit harsher). Ground almonds mixed with oil can also be used as a face scrub. There is a recipe on this forum for the Dr Hauschka daily cleanser based on this. You can also use a microfibre cloth to exfoliate your skin.
Use something really simple like rosewater or witch hazel (or a mixture of both) as a toner. You can moisturise your skin at night by simply massaging a few drops of almost any vegetable oil into your skin. This includes olive oil, sweet almond oil, coconut, macadamia oil or rosehip oil. Lots of people like using jojoba oil as a moisturiser. To add fragrance and extra healing properties you can add a few drops of an essential oil that suits your skin type. Google aromatherapy to find out more, however lavendar oil is a good one for almost any skin type and very healing. You can also moisturise your skin by simply pricking open a capsule of vitamin e oil and massaging that into your skin.
There are quite a few sunblocks based on zinc oxide or titanium dioxide on the market these days so it is becoming much easier to avoid using chemical sunscreen ingredients. Once again, the only way to find out what is available in your area is to check your local health food store and ask there. |

there are many natural facial masks you could make with ingredients such as seaweed, or yogurt/milk and you favorite fruits. You could also try making a toner using rice water. It makes your skin really soft! |
