During my initial stage, i used to breakout for like 2-3 days consecutively without any causes and then it'll healed by itself.
Now i'm back to normal. I've been using Retin-A for about a year now battling with my acne problems.
i'm using the 0.25% gel. |

OK, Septembergirl, you've sold me on the NIA24. I just placed an order for it. So, it'll be Vitamin C and NIA24 in the morning, and retinaldehyde and glycolic acid in the PM, plus Prolight Platinum every other day.
Still on the fence about Flex Effect--but will probably cave after Christmas! |

Hehe... I hope NIA24 will be working well for you. In theory it's a very good product, so let's hope it produces visible results. I haven't got around to trying NIA24 yet, but I sure will! I am introducing Remergent DNA Repair in my routine these days, so I will wait some weeks before introducing yet another product.
As we know that niacinamide (as in NIA24) is good for strengthening skin barrier and reducing hyperpigmentation, I was happy to find a study suggesting that niacinamide might also be a promising anti-aging agent. In a published, double blind study (though funded by Procter & Gamble company, so I guess the possibility of bias cannot be ruled out) it was concluded:
In addition to previously observed benefits for topical niacinamide, additional effects were identified (improved appearance of skin wrinkles and yellowing and improved elasticity).

I've read that retin-a actually thins just the outer layer of skin (the stratum corneum) while it thickens the epidermis and stimulates collagen production in the dermis. I've read that it's safe for crow's feet, but not to apply it to eyelids. |

Flitcraft, let me know if you get a "peachy" look from the Nia214. After Obagi, I tried the Nia (only for about 4-6 weeks) but my porcelain skin from Obagi turned "peachy" looking. I don't know if that makes sense. I guess some people would consider it a healthy look, but I was not happy. |

Just in case someone hasn't mentioned it yet - my doctor did say to wait about 15-30 minutes after washing my face to apply the Retin-A (or a similar retinoid)...
Something about the skin being moist means it absorbs "too much" of the agent - therefore leading to irritation?
He also said you can mix the retinoid with an inert moisturizer to lessen the concentration - esp. when first introducing it to a sensitive area.

I used Retin-A mixed in with the Obagi blender around my eyes, just not on my eyelids. The only area on my face that peeled was my chin area. The eye area seemed a little bit dry but I applied a moisturizing eye cream. I just wouldn't want to get it too close to my eyes so it wouldn't creep into them and irritate them. |

I think it's not for fineline. If you mean the effect with acne, I think it's true. But for fineline I disagree with it. |
