....it didnt really seem to get rid of them, maybe I need to do it more than once. What I dont like:after you massage the oil in your face and then lay hot towels on top to absorb the oil and impurities it seemed to make my red spider veins on my face really stand out!!! Who knows, I may even have more because of the heat not sure this is a good thing to do........

I am not a big believer in HOT water. I think it is really drying and bad for your skin. I have read so many articles that state do not use HOT water on your face. So, it would not surprise me that it seems like you have this happen when you apply a HOT rag. That is why I am a firm believer in cleansers that rinse easy, because I do not use HOT water, and luke warm water does not rinse oils in my opinion, or creamy cleansers. I stay away from both

bergquis, if u don't use an oil or cream cleanser, then it's hard to remove makeup & sunscreen right? What if I use a gel cleanser afterwards to clean off the oil, would that work too?

It takes more then one use of cleansing oil to clear out our pores, it can take a couple weeks or more depending on how clogged your pores are. Also make sure your are exfoliating to help move things along.

I wouldn't use a hot towel, it just irritates the skin IMO and can increase spider veins over time.

Also what kind of oils are you using?

Those are good oils. Castor can be drying overtime so if you start getting dry your may need less castor and more sunflower.
Keep up with it, it really helps.

I use Peter Thomas Roth glycolic cleanser. I don't wear a whole lot of makeup (Foundation), but I remove my eye makeup with Garnier cloths and moisturizer and then cleanse my face with the cleanser and my battery operated facial brush. It removes every trace of everything on my face, but does not strip my natural oils.

Hi lucyluc
Oh I hear ya - the oil cleansing method just was horrid to my skin! The sunflower oil/olive oil/castor oil just would never come off and I'm not one to apply hot water to my skin, since as you found out, the capillaries just dilate and look worse.

I use DHC which is a very light & water-emulsifying oil to remove SS and follow with a gentle cleanser by Zenbiotic. The Clarisonic, which some like, didn't seem to be getting everything off with gentle use and I didn't want to be too aggressive with it. That much exfoliation is too much for me now that I use retinol.

It takes some experimentation to find the routine that's right for you though - what doesn't work for one person might be just the thing for you! We're all so different after all. =)

I will 2nd DHC cleansing oil, thats what I used before I became sensitive to Olive Oil. And you dont need to use another cleanser after it, although I know some do anyway.

Also I add a bit of emulsifier to the cleansing oil I make so it rinses clean. I'm not a fan of the OC Method it self (not getting the oil off) but do love cleaning oil.
