Hi! Does anyone use a mineral makeup brand that they just love?? I know a lot of people use Bare Escentuals but I'm discovering that there are a lot of other kinds on the Internet and am wondering if anyone has found a gem!! Thanks! |

I've been using Aromaleigh MMU for five years now and love it! I did have to play a bit, mixing colors to find my skin match, but samples are inexpensive so that wasn't bad at all. I love AL's eye colors, too. Check out Aromaleigh! |

Does anyone know of a mineral pressed powder? I need one for my purse? So a compact, not loose powder.
Thanks |

Afterglow Cosmetics is the best mineral makeup company. I have experimented with various companies and they could not compare to Afterglow. Afterglow Cosmetics is all natural and gives you a natural and smooth look. It is not drying like other mineral brands.
Most of the time my skin is sensitive, oily, dehydrated and prone to acne. I wanted to find a company that wouldn't clog my pores and would not irritate my skin. Afterglow cosmetics has a variety of mineral foundation colours to match skin tone, plus, you can get the desired coverage whether it be light or heavy. Regardless of the amount of coverage, it feels like you are wearing nothing all; the skin can actually breathe.
the website iswww.afterglowcosmetics.com
shipping and handling is affordable. samples are also available.
I have raved about the company to all my friends and even coworkers. And when given the opportunity, I can't help but rave about it on here. |

there's tons of MMU companies. i find the highest quality MMU cost less than fraction of the price of big name companies and are much more pure. i personally love Everyday Minerals, KT Naturals and Cory Cosmetics.
Mineral makeup mania (delphi forum) is a great place to find reviews/learn about MMU. |

I've tried many mineral makeups and my favorite so far, and still, comes from a small outfit down South:
Smoky Mountain Minerals.
Bismuth-free, talc-free, dye-free, preservative-free, chemical-free, fragrance-free.
I really like the texture and finish. No shimmer or sparkles in the foundation powders, and it doesn't dry my skin like some other MMU brands have done. You can order samples (and they also have concealer and EMU oil and lip products, et al). They've been a pleasure to deal with, too!
Now if I could just find a pressed powder compact for my purse...the last ones I tried, Cargo Blue Ray powder and Jane Iredale's pressed powder compacts, were too yellow for my skin tone. |

I really liked the color choices with Alima, but it made my skin look too parched. Lumiere has several different formulations, including one made for drier skin. I also liked Jane Iredale's Amazing Base, but the newer formulation is less elegant than it used to be. Laura Mercier makes a terrific foundation, though I can't get the color just right--Real Sand is too dark and Porcelain too light. I've just ordered Julie Hewett's foundation--it has relatively few colors, so I don't expect it to match well, but we'll see.
Bottom line--try a lot of options, and perhaps you'll find the one that is perfect for you. I'm still experimenting. |

For my dry to normal skin I like UGloGirl. Great texture and looks just a tad bit glowy/dewy which I like. |

I have to agree with existential lady, UGloGirl is my favourite. Tried Alima, Lumiere, Aromaleigh, Jane Iredale and SkinRx yet UGloGirl is the best for me! |

Well, I am going to have a drawer full of samples when I'm done!!
I've tried Bare Escentuals...hate it and I'm pretty sure it clogs up my skin.
Lumiere - want this one to work but having trouble with color and also with it highlighting large pores. I've order a couple more colors in the cashmere forumla.
Everyday Minerals - not loving it. I have to mix two different colors and I'm not sure if I'm getting the right color anyway. Not really thrilled with having to mix. I also like the semi-matte formula but it seems to disappear quickly.....still trying others before I choose to play with this brand.
UGloGirl - just ordered some samples. Fingers are crossed!!!!
Thanks everyone for your input!! If these ones don't work out....I may just have to try another suggestion from this tread |

Oops...I almost forgot. I looked into Aromaleigh and Amazing but it works out a bit more expensive to start getting samples to Canada so I thought I'd start with a few of the others. |

great question. I've been looking for a good one too. Used BE before but found it too shiny. Now I am using Aveda pressed powder makeup which is nice but it's not a full mineral makeup. |

I really like the Loreal Bare Natural products. They have a new product which is a pressed mineral powder, which has an SPF of 24.
It is so convenient, since it is pressed, and you can easily stash it in a purse.
I also love their Bare Naturale shimmering bronze, as well as the Soft Focus Mineral Finish and Gentle Mineral Concealer. The Gentle mineral concealer has an spf of 25. |

I've just received my UGloGirl samples and I think we may have a winner!!!
After about 6 samples from Everyday Minerals, I still don't have the right color....and it seems everyone has to mix colors and formulas to find something that works. I was exciting because the pricing was so low...but it's just not working
Lumiere is just wrong...the colors were wrong and very different across the different formulas. Nothing felt right.
I ordered 3 samples from UGloGirl and it looks like I have a color match and so far, it feels great. This is the first one that my daughter (7 yrs) has said looks good and matches
Thanks everyone for your input!
[b]Has anyone tried the primers from UGloGirl? or the toner? |

FYI - they do not offer any samples anymore I decided not to try them (yet, anyway) because if I don't get the color right the first time...it could get quite expensive to ship to Canada.... |

it sucks you cant order the samples anymore from aftergirlcosmetics........the starter kit is too expensive to try especially if the color choice picked is wrong for the skintone |

I have been on a search too. I can't use BE because it makes me itch and sweat like crazy. EEWW.
I have tried Aromaleigh and like them, but like you I am broadening my horizon. I just ordered a free kit from Signature Minerals, you get samples of 6 different things and pay for shipping. I also am going to try Pure luxe, you can get samples for $1 a piece and they are larger sized then aromaleigh and are in jars not baggies. I have seen the swatches for eye shadows on another makeup site and loved the colors. I can't wait to try them. |
