Thanks for sharing. I just started using Bare Escentuals as they are not supposed to contain much chemical or preservative. |

"Best" because they sell best at Sephora or for some "result-based" reason? Honestly, i wouldn't consider Philosophy very strong-performing products.. |

I agree I'm not impressed with most of the "best of". |

Yes, I'm curious how Sephora defines "Best" -- do they mean Best Selling, do they conduct inhouse scientific and clinical testing to determine best results?
I will agree that Make Up Forever Mat Velvet + is fantastic. Had to switch from my precious mineral makeup to something that'll hold up in the heat and perspiration and it's quite lovely. Review in 3 weeks, after I've used it for a couple more.
Can't wait for fall so I can go back to my minerals. |

They have poll wherein sephora customers vote for their favourites. |

The whole Best of Sephora thing kinda annoys me. Basically what they do is they have a poll, but for each category they only offer 4 or so choices out of the billion products that they sell. I participate in the poll every year, but most of the time they only ask about products I've never even tried. The results would mean more if you could actually vote on any product Sephora sells. |

I really agree with people who say there is no basis for the Best Of Sephora, I honestly think they have deals with the companies who they post are the "best". I think this also goes for Allure magazine's Best Of and most magazines Best Of. |

In my experience the more educated you are about skincare and similar products the more you know the "Best Of" lists are not all that reliable or at least "limited for lots of reasons.
- I agree with ...Liz ... for the most part. The Best of Lists are geared for different reasons. =
They are for editors, the masses, money-making reasons, to make distributors happy, etc. etc.
Validity of such things; like any poll is subject to whatever the polsters are trying to achieve. |

Thank you for posting this.
Personally, I don't think these are the "best" products as they are the ones that are advertised the most. Some are undoubtedly good, but these are mostly mass merchandised.
A lot of the indie brands are better quality, as we well know here at EDS. How many "average janes" know about oils, pH levels, comedogenic ingredients, etc? I'd venture to say most of us here don't use just the stuff that's sold at Sephora. It may be good, but there's always better. |

I don't really use any of their "best of" but I agree with NARS blush being one of the "best of" |

I don't agree with this list.
First, there are SO many brands that Sephora does not sell. Second, of the brands they do sell, this is a selective list (if people just check most favorite like a multiple choice quiz).
Interesting though... |
