As promised, I went and had a Visia analysis on Friday so that I could gauge any change in my skin while using the Epionce products. What I found was that LOTS had changed technology wise since my last one in 2009. The good news is that they can measure even more than before (like your eyelashes!), but the new technology is also even more critical of your looks, lol.
Since the technology had changed so much, some of my old scores are no longer relevant, and I noted that below. Any missing numbers from 2009 are because either the category is new (spots, redness) or they changed the measurement criteria (UV spots used to have a count instead of a %).
I will be using the age 47 and 32 scores from 8/16/13 to assess if my skin gets better or worse over the next 6 months or so.

FYI that I deleted my personal scores since another member inferred that my research isn't credible or appreciated. Unfortunately I will no longer be sharing any personal information or research that I am doing on various topics. |

You know...that is a good point. I hate to punish everyone just because of one person.
Here are the scores:

Some seem to bring all kinds of projections to the party and end up spewing into the punchbowl, lol.
Ignore them, I say.
Carry on, we appreciate it.

Was catching up on new postings and ran into Bethany's with her image already deleted.
I was so disappointed kicking myself that I didn't check yesterday.
Then when I read further and found out someone had the audacity to asked her to remove them, my temper got red hot.
How dare someone assume to speak for the rest of us? I'm positive that she is one of the most respected, most read individuals. Her research is top rate. We learn volumes from her generous sharing.
Another thing, Bethany just doesn't talk/rave about stuff, she shows us proof!
I would like to know who sent her this message as I would like to know the person I'm p*ssed at.
I'm so happy to know that Bethany reposted. Way to go girl and don't let that person take up any of your brain time. |

MaryClaire, it wasn't related to this thread. But I'm over it and will continue on as before. Bygones! |

I rarely post here, but just wanted to say how much I've appreciated Bethany's posts over the years I've been reading here.
Thanks, Bethany, for all your research and posts! Can't believe someone would try to squelch that!
eta: I had Visia analysis done years ago at the Elemis counter. I didn't know I was going to have it done at the time, so had CP's on and I think that skewed some results (pores!)). I'd love to find those (I went back and had them done again a few months later) and go have them done again. What a great way to monitor progress. |

Thanks Bacchus! I cleaned my face right before the analysis because I didn't want any light reflecting off my sunscreen. But that is tough to do if you don't plan for it! And the only reason I have my old scores is because I typed them up here on EDS in 2009, lol.

MaryClaire is correct that I try to do the best I can to be unbiased when sharing info. I know that we all have the potential to get people to try new products here on EDS through our enthusiasm, but I personally try to back it up with product clinicals and other independent research where I can. Thus this Visia assessment so we can see if Epionce really does what they say it does.
I would really encourage people to do a Visia analysis if they are spending significant $$$ on products (or even doing DIY) because you deserve to know if they are really working or not. They generally offer Visia for free even if you get a complementary consult at a med spa or derm. However, I paid $25 just so I didn't have to meet with the doctor, lol. |

Awesome! I can't wait to hear how you thought it went. BTW, I know not everyone wants to post their personal info, so please don't feel any pressure to do so. |

How can reporting personal Visia skin report possibly affect anyone on the forum? I do not get that. |

Who needs statistics and skin reports
when all you have to do is take care of your skin like you take care of your health.
I wouldnt waste my time with this stuff. |

Personally I like the idea of having a scientific means of gauging skin progression (for better or worse). When someone suffers from severe skin problems, it is beneficial for DIY skincare or for a skin specialist and patient to see what is happening beneath the 'surface' of the skin. For example, with sun damage, it may not show up straight away (that's my understanding) but if you can see that the lower layers are damaged you can take preventative measures to reverse and prevent further damage.
As with taking care of the body and going in for check ups at the doctors, so to is the VISIA a way of 'checking up' on the health of your skin, all of which contributes to taking care of it.
Now that I understand the VISIA readings better, I think it is a good way to see if what I am doing is working even before I start seeing 'surface results'. (For the record my skin issues include a ruined skin barrier, acne, and acne scarring).

I have just had Visia analysis done, and it looks like I have perfect skin. Two fine lines under my eyes. No fine lines anywhere else. A little bit of rough texture on the side of my nose. Otherwise, no spots, no UV spots, no redness, only very few enlarged pores on the nose.
I wish I had taken the Visia test before starting the Epionce MBC! |

That is awesome!
Eta: can you please share your peel protocol somewhere? I think I will be adding that in eventually, and I would like to get your thoughts. |

To know if your skincare regimen is working? For example, UV spots can't be seen with the naked eye.
If you take care of your health it does not mean that you never have to have your blood checked. |

bethany is one of our very most helpful, well informed, longstanding and unbiased EDS members.
Her contributions to this community are so significant, we could not even begin to quantify them.
I focus on her posts, not only because I know them to always be valuable...but also very important to me: *unbiased*.
Unlike some posters here, it seems her only goals are to educate herself and other members, not to push a particular product or procedure to financially enrich others.

Thanks all for the support...very much appreciated.
But to be honest I am really hoping that this dies down and we can all move on because I already have, and I don't want to bog the thread down with this nonsense. THANKS!!!!
So now back to the Visia conversation.... |

Thank you Bethany for posting your results!
I had a Visia done unofficially, just the photo with no printout at a friends medspa after hours
EEK! I have been missing sunscreen application on my hairline near my forehead! (fear of greasy hair). Other than that, I thought it looked horrid, but she showed me several other photos and she said it looked great! So I will carry on and be more careful with sunscreen application in the future.
Thanks again Bethany |
