This is listed as a winner on Sephora. Has anyone tried it? Does it work.
I don't actually have any blemishes right now, but was thinking about adding it to my arsenal of anti-acne product for those times my skin is stressed out.
Thanks. |

The reviews I have read are hit or miss. I know for me it contains ingredients that would cause a break out so I never tried it. |

Thanks GirlieGirl.
I'm curious about the ingredients that can cause breakouts. Could you please specify? I was not aware BE contained any (especially ironic in such a formula). |

the ingredients are as f0.07 oz:
Zinc Stearate, Illite, Barium Sulfate, Silica, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Tapioca Starch, Soil Mineral Concentrate, Kaolin, Cyclodextrin, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Extract, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Betaine Salicylate, Corn Starch Modified, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Emblica Officinalis Fruit Extract, Sophora Angustifolia Extract, Algae Extract, Retinol, Dextrin, Hydroxypropyl Cyclodextrin, Maltodextrin, Farnesol, Niacinamide, Magnesium Myristate, Calcium Sodium Phosphosilicate, Mica, Bismuth Oxychloride, Titanium Dioxideollows:
I am knowledgeable about all the ingredients listed but I do know that I have tried this product line and every bit of it causes my skin to itch, and then I have so many clogged pores (that look like rice when you extract them). No thanks. Back when I was using this line, I could not figure out what was causing the clogged pores, then when I discovered it was this, my clogged pores finally stopped arriving daily. Then I went to work on getting them all cleared out. I stay away from this line!!! |

I really loved this product when my skin was oily. I used it at night and it really reduced break outs and pore size. |

The silicone, corn starch, algae extract, bismuth would all be problematic for me. I've found even with so called acne products you still need to know your ingredients. |

Glad this worked for you, catski!
Thanks for the list of ingredients, bergquis, and for sharing your experience with this product!
I see that the main ingredients is Zinc, which is interesting. I have found one of Zinc's effects on my skin to be drying out pimples until they become these hard "rice-like" plugs as you describe, then the skin pushes them out. I think this is actually a good sign - the skin is cleansing itself, but I'm no expert.
Girliegirl, you're absolutely right about reading labels. I am also allergic to corn starch (when I ingest it so why not when I place it on my skin?), but I've never thought of it as possibly causing irritations. As for the other ingredients you mentioned, I have no way of knowing the effect they might have on me. Wish there was a way to tell!
One final question: I'm was not able to find silicone in the list of ingredients? Could you please let me know the term used to indicate it so I can be on the lookout for it in the future?
Thanks again everyone! |

It goes by many different names, usually anything ending in 'cone' or 'xane'. Many can use silicone without problems, sadly I'm not one of them. |

Here's a link to a thread that was discussing this a while back: http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewtopic.php?tid=30003
I haven't personally tried it yet, but it remains on my "interested-but-not-spending-money" list! |

I'm interested in checking this stuff out, but I agree that it has a lot of ingredients that would freak my skin out. So I decided I'm going to try to make my own! I'm going to add powdered salicylic acid to a decant of some existing mineral concealers from Everyday Minerals, and probably add a bit of essential oils to help fight blemishes, and maybe some zinc oxide for sun protection. I blogged about my plan here. I'll update if it works! |

I really like your blog, ginnielizz! I'll be on the lookout for the results of this experiment.
Just keep in mind that Zinc is the main ingredient in the original formula. I think this is key. |

Thanks! I'm not planning on using mine at night, so the zinc can't be too obvious. I'll keep ya posted! |

I use it on my acne and it reduces redness but that's about it. |

This product specifically contains Dimethicone, which is a silicone. This product make me break out really bad after the first night of using it. It really is hit or miss. |

When I used it I don't remember it "shining" but you can give it a try and see how it looks on your skin tone. If not just apply it before you go to bed. |
