I'm thinking of getting some permanent hair removal done. What are the pros and cons of each? Also, can they do bikini line laser hair removal or brazilian? And what about electrolysis? I've heard that laser isn't all together permanent, is that true?

Which areas are you planning to treat? What is your skin type?

I can only speak for electrolysis. It was permanent all right, but it also left me with scarring. Of course, I had researched it endlessly and had heard of scarring but thought that was something I'd see right away. In my case, it took months for it to show up.

I first realized I had these tiny holes in my face, like where the needle went, but the electrologist assured me this was normal -- she even claimed they were blackheads!

Eventually though, the area around these holes sank. I now have these small depressed spaces and lines on my cheeks. Sad

Oh, and they are hypo pigmented.

Just be careful when you do this on your face. Same goes for laser. I heard it can actually excite the hair follicles on the face for some people producing the opposite of the intended effect.

I recently went down the laser path and had IPL done (Infrared Pulsed Light). I must say that this is the best thing I have ever done. It was not at all painful and the results have been incredible. I don't have to wax ever again (only my eyebrows). It does not remove 100% of your hair, but about 95 percent I found, but because of the dramatic reduction in hair, you can barely notice the hair that is there! I have not shaved my underarms for a good couple of months now, and can still wear singlets without worrying (and I had really dark hair). I have no hesitation in recommending this to anyone!
