The Journal of Longevity often has really good articles on various subjects related to anti-aging.
Here are some excerpts from a recent one:
Like the interlocking facets in the scaffolding of a well-built house, collagen criss-crosses the spaces between nearly every one of the skins cells to give your skin strength and suppleness, as well as to retain moisture. What's more, the collagen meshwork provides the blue print for cellular repair and regeneration. When collagen production becomes disorganized from sun damage, the road map that guides the exfoliation of dead cells and the emergence of fresh cells falters as well.
Some ingredients that have come forward in slowing the loss of collagen are:
Wheat Proteins: Skin Tighteners
Like soluble collagen, these heavy wheat molecules condition and firm the skin by forming a film that literally draws together the skin cells. In vivo studies conducted with these high molecular-weight materials showed tightening and smoothing of the skin. (Challoner, 1977)
Amino Acids Mimic Collagen
A patented blend of amino acids, acetyl hexapeptide-3 (Argireline) actually mimics collagen by producing a noticeable change in the depth of wrinkles. In a study acetyl hexapeptide-3 was applied twice daily in the area surrounding only one eye. By utilizing sophisticated 3-D imaging technology, researchers were able to precisely evaluate changes in wrinkle depth. The investigators concluded that acetyl hexapeptide-3 rapidly impacted the appearance of lines and wrinkles; further they found the improvements were even greater with repeated use over time.
Delivery System goes Deeper
Even the best skincare ingredients like the ones discussed here can't do much to help you look more beautiful if they can't find their way beneath the skin and deep into the lines and furrows you want to fight. Recently, researchers developed a state-of-the-art delivery system that penetrates far more deeply into the skins layers than the original liposomes developed during the 1980's. When researchers compared the old liposomes with the more advanced QuSomestm they noted QuSomes delivered the active ingredients more rapidly and more deeply than any of the previous generations of liposomes.
Younger Looking Skin is Possible
Thanks to such advances as these, younger looking skin is possible. The benefits of using a skin-firming gel every day can accrue over time, for a fresh renewed look and elegant, temporary relief from the signs of aging.

| Judy, thank you so much for posting all this good info, very helpful. I'm looking at some Babor products right now, and the Vita Cream (Deep Moist) I believe has wheat proteins in it. |

If you learn more about the wheat proteins and what they do, let us know. To be honest, I'd never heard of them until I read this article. There is probably somone on the board who knows all about them!

Really interesting but full of terms that are new to me. Anyone know what Qusomes are and which products have them. I'm sure that if this is new research, products with this technology are very expensive, but if they really work, we'll be seeing more "enhanced" products at a variety of prices before too long. Thanks for the info! |
