Has anyone tried the Dot laser skin resurfacing?
I have large pores, acne scars, and white and blackheads. I have looked into laser resurfacing before, but the downtime that associated with it stopped me. Dot laser is the new laser that supposedly gets rid of wrinkles and acne scars and there is little downtime.

It looks like DOT is a Fractional CO2 laser...this links says a few days of redness.

http://www.americanhealthandbeauty.com/articles/?Article=553

Of course, they said something similar about Fraxel (have it done the same day and go right back to work...NOT!), and I can tell you from personal experience that my first treatment had me in seclusion for 2 full weeks. For follow up treatments I took a steriod to prevent so much swelling, and was still in hiding for a full week at a time. Rolling Eyes

Fractional CO2 lasers are supposedly be quite impressive, but I would wait until you see some real life users post reviews on the actual downtime is that is an issue for you.

I hlaser resurfing last year in 2010. I wanted to reduce the appearance of wrinkles around my eyes & upper lip lines. I'm in my early 40's & I was told my lip lines would disappear & my eye wrinkles would be reduced. I flew to Auckland & back to Nelson on the same day. The procedure wasn't very long but it was very painful. I wasn't prepared for the after effect... redness, swollen face, painful, weeping blister & two weeks of looking like a lobster! After the initial treatment I can truely say it didn't work... ladies don't waste your money or time. I feel Dr Taylor at the Rumuera clinic in Auckland said every thing I wanted to hear... BUT did NOT deliver on what he said. I now have discoloration around my eyes & look like a panda & no change to my lip lines or eye wrinkles. It was a very expensive lesson. I would not recommend this treatment to anyone.

Hi everyone,

I have been reading about this DOT laser, and that is supposed to lift and tighten the skin around the eyes. Has anyone tried this, if so what did you think?

many thanks

I had DOT done in February for acne scars. It was very effective - the next step is microdroplet silicone to fill in some craters, then a touch up DOT treatment.

My research also advised me of a few days downtime, but the laser center suggested I take a full week off work. I protested and it was politely explained to me that I would medically be able to return, but would likely prefer to stay home for "social reasons". They were absolutely correct. I was quite scary looking. The post op treatment also involves covering the skin with aquaphor ointment and doing vinegar baths every few hours.

The actual treatment was painful for me - I metabolize meds quickly and the max dose of lidocaine wasn't cutting it. However, there was zero post op pain. The biggest challenge was attempting to keep cat hair out of the ointment.
Very Happy

DOT therapy is safe for nearly any patient who suffers from aging or sun-damaged skin. This technology can help improve fine lines, sun damage, skin laxity and even deeper facial wrinkles and acne scarring. OMG. This treatment works AMAZING. I got mine a couple of months ago, and the minimum age is 16, I believe. It hurts REALLY badly for about two weeks. My face was all red and swollen. After my face was back to normal, I haven't had anything on my face. I would defiantly recommend getting this treatment.
Our body needs a lot of water so give in to water. Water is not just way to flush out toxin but if you have more water in your body you will generally feel healthier and fitter. This it self will discourage any tendency to gorge. The best thing about water is that is has no calories at all.
