Hello,

I have read a number of threads about whiteheads and blackheads and appreciate all the information. The main problem is there are too many suggestions!

I have blackheads on my nose only. I have tried pore strips with no benefits.

I also have whiteheads all over the face, especially the chin. I would say about 80% of new spots are whiteheads so if I can deal with them it will be a big improvement.

My current regime is:

Dermalogica dermal clay cleanser every day.

Dermalogica skin prep scrub (exfoliation) three times per week.

Differin gel 0.1% (adapalene) before bed every day.

I am not sure how effective these are. I have stages where the face is bad and stages where it is good. I personally do not think I am doing anything different irrespective of how the face looks.

From what I can gather, the following products are suggested. Can someone please advise if this looks sensible for my condition:

Pretika brush.

Some form of AHAs with 2% or 5% salicylic acid.

Do I need anything else considering what I am already using? Also, I guess I should order the AHAs online (I am in the UK). I would prefer not to have to deal with prescriptions.

Thanks!

I think you should add 2% BHA to your regimen. Paula's choice is the best one. It may take time around 1 month to improve your skin condition. Be patient.

I second the 2% BHA. I have almost no blackheads on my nose since using it! I use the PSF brand, and apply it after washing my face and then wait a while to put on any moisturizer to increase efficacy.

I think the pretika brush is a good idea. You probably won't need the skin scrub then.

With all of that exfoliation, you will definitely need to wear some sunscreen every day.

I just thought I would add that I have just started using the following products and my blackheads and small white pimples have almost disappeared and this week is supposed to be that breakout week of the month. Here is what I have been using:

Dr Hauschka Cleansing Cream am & pm
Decleor Essential Balm pm
DHC Deep Cleansing Oil pm

I don't like using nasty topical products and after using MD Formulations for a while, I decided to try the natural way and it has certainly paid off for me.

My only suggestion to you is to use a foaming cleanser to clean the face instead of soap.
