Hi
I have been on here for a few years and always seem to be trying new products. At the moment I have a very basic routine:
Morning
Cetaphil in shower (sometimes a Pevonia scrub)
Cellular Skin RX Vitamin C + Firming Serum
Janesce moisturiser Normal Skin
DDF sunscreen
Murad Essential C eye cream
make up.....
Evening
Cetaphil
Janesce moisturiser Normal Skin
Juara Sweet Black Tea eye cream
I love natural products (although I use Cetaphil) I did try Green Tea Cleanser PSF but made my skin very oily.
I have serious breakouts on my chin all the time and I can't stop touching it which doesn't help but I'm 30 and it looks terrible (I look like a teenager).
Anyway, I really need some help with an overhaul of my products. Can anyone recommend anything for dehydrated skin, outbreaks on chin. I don't want to slather too many products on my face but rather treat the problems with products that work?? |

Hi Nelly,
I'm certainly no expert - but I've just started the Obagi Nu Derm system - and, so far, I'm really impressed. (My issues are a bit different from yours - but I think Obagi has a wide variety of products for your concerns.)
Some other forum members are using the Obagi ZO skincare line - and I think they really like it. Of course, each individual has their own unique preferences for skin care and skin care lines - so I'm sure you're going to get a lot of different responses - for different products/product lines. All I know is that I'm kind of a product junkie - and I'm really hard to please (I want great results FAST! - LOL) So far, though I've only just started it - the Obagi line seems to be giving me what I'm looking for - namely results!
Here's a link for an online skincare quiz that you might find informative:

Hope this helps! |

Nelly, have you tried the Oil Cleansing Method that's discussed in lots of threads here? I use lots of high powered, expensive products, but in the end, the OCM is the best thing I've ever done for my skin. It took me a while to get into it, and in the beginning I actually thought I was having more breakouts, but now that it's all settled down, I wouldn't want to be without it. I put mine in a beautiful glass pump bottle that I got at Pier 1, so it looks very classy. |

These breakouts are likely hormonal and you really need to see a derm to get them in control. No OTC I ever tried helped with those kind of breakouts. |

Thanks everyone for your comments. I looked at Obagi and it was a bit expensive.
I also looked into the OCM but I'm not sure if I could put castor oil on my face??
Girlie Girl I take my comment back about serious breakouts - they probably aren't that bad - a few blackheads and raised bumps normally around that time of the month.
So, after thinking and browsing the threads, I decided to order Juice Beauty trial pack to try some of the products out.
I then purchased Dr H's Cleansing Cream off ebay and then today I ordered Decleor Essential Balm. I know, I should have put the one order into EDS and I could have saved myself on shipping
Note: I wont be using all the products at once, but I would like to add products to my regime that will help my skin calm down a bit and refresh it in time for Summer here in Australia.
I'm excited to try the Decleor Balm first as I don't use a night cream and I'm hoping it will help my skin relax and refresh. When I run out of Cetaphil, I might try the Juice Beauty cleanser and try Dr H's CC a couple of mornings a week to start.
Does anyone have any other advice or suggestions on any of these products I purchased? |

Best advice I ever got from this board is:
--vitamin C serum (skinceuticals C+E ferulic for dry, or AOX for combo skin);
--retinoids (as in, retin-a, Green Cream, any of the retinol products);
--sunscreen;
--MSM supplements plus vitamin C supplements, lots of pure water and clean well-balanced diet.
These are the core elements IMO. |
