As titled. Those kinda jackets always say to dry clean and it's kinda costly to do that once a yr? It's around $30-40 just to do that. If you have a few jackets, then that's gonna cost u more...might as well get a new one Confused

So my question is, how often do you wash them? Did anyone here try washing it in gentle cycle in the washer? Or hand wash? I heard that it'll shrink if u do or change shape?

In my experience, Stardusty, it loses its structure no matter how carefully it is hand washed. I found it never seems to be the same after and I've ended up having to get it professionally pressed at the dry cleaner's afterwards anyways which does restore it but only somewhat.

Is it just perspiration you are hoping to zap? If so, Dr Mist sprayed on the under arm area of the jacket works really well for that.

I find wool really hard to wash without risk, not like cashmere. I'd dry clean it, annoying cost wise I know, but not as annoying as replacing.

havana8, it's not perspiration on the jacket as I wear long sleeves inside. But I just feel that I need to wash it somehow cuz I can't have it unwashed for yrs right? Or it doesn't really matter? Confused

daisylondon, yeah the cost is pricey. I have a few 70% wool skirts too which I don't know if I should hand wash, gentle cycle in the washer, or dry clean? Sad

Hand wash is fine but no rubbing. And you should only pat it down while washing. I learnt that from TV the other day. Smile

Thanks Nutella! So even though the label says Dry Clean Only, I can still hand wash it? So do I basically just soak the jacket or skirt into the detergent water and then rinse? How do I dry it? Thanks so much! Very Happy

You are welcome! Smile

You should only pat it down while washing and rinsing.

Lay it on a flat surface to dry! Smile

That's a great link for washing sweaters but I wouldn't try it with a wool jacket... Cool

I used to use Dryel in the dryer, it worked really well I thought.
