Last night I cleansed my face as normal with my DHC Cleansing Oil then Dr Hauschka Cleansing Cream. I then found a softening mask sample (organic) in my cupboard so used that and left it on for 5 mins. When I washed it off my face was very nice and soft. I then pressed my Decleor Essential Balm into my face and went to bed.
Well, this morning I woke up to a itchy and rashy face - just on the bottom of my cheeks and extending down my jaw. It looks like a rash with little raised red bumps. I tried not to aggravate it too much and put minimal make up on today.
What do you think caused this reaction? Would it have been the combination of the face mask and Essential Balm or just the Essential Balm? I have been using the Balm for about a week and a half now with great results but today, I'm not sure what has happened.
Can anyone suggest anything or can see where I went wrong? |

Sorry to hear that and I hope it clears up quickly. It's good that you used minimal makeup, you're doing the right things to help clear it up.
My guess is that it is most likely to be the mask (since this is the new product you have introduced) but it could also be that the rash in coincidental and caused by something else altogether. Please keep an eye on it and if it doesn't clear up or it gets worse then go see a Dr. |

Thanks Mabsy for your reply. Its strange because my skin is soft but I have this rash on my cheeks that looks like its tiny red raised pimples - sort of like the ones you get on the top of your arms.
I won't be using the mask again and I think I'm going to cut back use of the Essential Balm just until it clears up a bit. It may have been an overload of organic products and essential oils on my skin at once. Let's hope so anyway. |

I just thought of something else.....I have been using my new Amazing cosmetics mineral powder since Sunday and today was when the rash occurred. I have heard that some people are allergic to something in mineral foundation - I wonder if that's what caused it?
Ok, well I have a day off work tomorrow so I think I'll be brave and not put any make up on to see if this rash goes away. Its quite itchy so I can't wait to take my make up off when I get home. |

Sorry to hear that happened to you. I think that it is a mask. You can do a little test on your arm, just scratch it a little (you don't have to draw blood, just a little scratch would be enough) and put this mask over this scratch for 10 minutes. Same thing you can do for Amazing cosmetic powder. You will see if your skin react to any of the product. Just remember if you took any antihistamine pill it may not work, so wait until the pill will stop working and then do the test. Of course, it is better to do the test at the doctor's office, but for now you can try this to figure out the cause of your allergy. I have allergy to many products and I understand how you feel. |

Have you considered applying some hydrocortisone to the rash to help it go away and stop the itching?
The MMU ingredient you are talking about is Bismuth...it usually causes itching, but not a rash like you mentioned. |

sorry to hear this.
Perhaps too much abrasion with the Dr.H cleansing scrub everyday and then the minerals.
I woudl only use the scrub a few times a week and stop the minerals, then start and see what happens.
Or it could have been the mask.
Wait and see... |

i did have a kind of rash from mineral makeup, that also only came about a few days of use. So... that might well be the culprit (and it didn't contain the bismuth oxychloride).
What i would do - would be to stop using all the suspects (mask gone anyway, but also stop the balm and the mineral makeup) and use only very gentle products (tested over longer time on your skin) for a while... Then, after rash completely gone, you can re-introduce them one by one, and use only one for a longer while, before you re-introduce the next. This way you can pinpoint what caused the rash in the first place. |

Thanks so much everyone for your replies. I have stopped almost everything and gone back to my Cetaphil and moisturiser only. Foundation is my Estee Lauder one with a bit of bronzer.
I put some cortisone cream on my cheeks last night and that seemed to help the itch and the redness but when I rub my hand across my cheeks, they just feel rough and bumpy.
I think I'll take your advice cora-lu and just try one product at a time. I get very excited on here with all these great product claims and want to try/buy everything! |

After lots of research, I have figured out that my rash was probably caused by my DHC Deep Cleansing Oil. I have read lots of posts on hgere that the OCM did the same thing to other people's skin. Broke them out in a rash on their cheeks/neck red, blotchy, itchey etc etc.
I have been back to my Amazoing Cosmetics this week and its all good. My skin is starting to look good again and the roughness is slowly going away.
I'm trying to swap my DHC on MUA if anyone wants it! I only used it 5 times. |

So good you found out the culprit! I wonder what ingredient(s) in that oil cause such reactions...
I am still not 100% sure as to what had caused my rash (though my prime suspect is still the MMU, or at least mineral eye shadows). |

I had the same thing happen to me with the Dr. H DCO...I was so upset! But every time I tried it after the rash went away, it would come back again. I just use it on my arms and chest now. bummer though, eh? |
