I would love to have your suggestions on deciding my eye care regimen.I have a dry/combo skin.I did peruse the archives and came across a few tips.
Dark circles:
PtR K rescue did work for mabsy. But it is not moisturising enough for some1.Cellcosmet seems to be another touted product by many.I do have visible dark circles .Which would be better?
Lines : I do see a line.Any suggesions?
Mositurizer: I came across
murad with spf(Could some1 give me the full name pls?)quite a few times. Are there any other better choices
Firming:Vit c serum.I have not used these at all..May I have a suggestion for a product.When should 1 start using it?I am 26.
What is eye bright,btw?
If you will all tell your whole rigamarole ..like how many times a day, when, number of times to apply masks in a week, moisturiser above ptr? etc etc and anyother good tips,I'd appreciate it.It'd help me .
Is it better to get samples first or is it ok to go ahead and buy things?
*Enlighten me ,pls *
Thanks a lot for all your time. |

Hi Sats and welcome to the forum !!
I'm like a girl in a candy store when someone mentions eye creams. I'm always open to trying new product lines that people give feedback for, but have my own favs.
I've kind of broken down my eye creams into ones I wear at night (those without SPF) and for day. So then, for me what it comes down to is choosing the one to target specific problems and the formula (cream or gel).
I have dry/ combination skin too and I started noticing little lines under my eyes a few years ago when I started to really get into serious skincare, nice timing that !
At night, I love the Phytomer Lift Contour for it's firming, moisturising, and decongesting effects. It just sinks in and I love the fluffy cream/gel formula. I'm so impressed with this product and find it so hard to break from it.... the other one of course is Cellcosmet which would be one I'd invest in for lines much later. Both of these are very moisturising.
One eye cream for day has stood out for me and that's the Murad Essential-C eye cream SPF15. You want one that is kind on your eyes, even with contacts, doesn't sting even with the SPF componant and wears well under make up. This one can't be beaten, it's great !
I wish I had dark eye circles to try out the PTR Vit K Rescue eye cream, it's gotten a lot of positive feedback on here so that might be the product for you to try out.
I think it's good to invest in eye creams to use in our 20's, at least wearing a protective one in the day...I don't think I started thinking about eye creams until I was your age, I'm now 30. The eyes are as important as our faces... Have fun finding one for you !! |

Thanks a ton..summertime girl!Appreciate it.I am gonna go with the Murad and the PTR krescue first. My question about Phytomer lift contour is,when is a good time to start using it?I remember reading that its not advisable on starting with firming creams earlier since it might not work later. When did you start using it?
I am glad we both have the same skin type.since you are a veteran ,you would have a lot suggestions .I am just so starting now .Hope I am not too late.. |

Hi Sats and welcome!
I use murad essential-c and as summertimegirl says, it is a great product. I wear it on top of Cserum and eyebright. I really recommend eyebright, (though there have been a few members reporting irritation) it really has helped my dark circles clear up and makes a nice smooth base. I also use relaxaline around my eyes. I do sometimes wonder if I overload my eye area, but I have got into these habits and it's hard to break...still at least I'm not using strivectin any more so that's one less thing going on my eyes!
As to particular questions, No-one is too young to use anti-oxidants so using a C serum is a very good idea. Skincueticals makes a really good one, as do cellularskin who also make relaxaline and eyebright. I'm gonna be forum guinie (sp?) pig and try dianayvonne 25% one there is aslo cellex-c and vivier...every one has their fave.
you could maybe start using relaxaline or another agiriline 10% product to help ward of lines, but remember a few, (very few ) do add character!
Eyebright is a peptide type gel that does nice things to darkish eyes...I doubt it would work on really dark circles though. Still it's a nice product.

I use the Cellularskinrx.com Eye Bright, Relax. and C+ serum, too. I have combo skin and am 40+ (but better ...My routine is pretty simple...AM: C, then EyeBright, then Relax. followed by Sunscreen. Some moisturizer during the day if feel dry around eyes (Nivea CoQ10 or Rosehip oil). PM: EyeBright then alternate Retin-A 0.025% with Glycolic acid serum/cream each night. Use both close to the eye but not right up to the eyelid. Sometimes will top off with the Relax. and the Nivea again.
For me basically, I'm trying to keep the dark circles lightened up, reduce my crow's feet, and plump up the skin around my eyes. So far,so good. |

Guapa, you sure are a brave guinea pig
BTW,what do u mean by darkish eyes?when you say relaxaline or another agiriline 10% product "adds character"..do u mean they are very effective?I am sorry I did not understand :(Is there a specific reason you stopped using strivectin?
Betterat 40(Awesome nick, btw:)) ,that was very informative.thanks.I have another q regd layering up.Applying one over the other..can they penetrate a layer and act and be very effective? But it does work for you and so it should, but I am just thinking aloud.what are the effects of rosehip oil ?And where can I buy them?
Thanks for your time:) |

Sats,
EB, Relax and C+ are all at the cellularskinrx.com site. The rosehip oil I use comes from the Garden of Wisdom.com site but there are many places you can buy it. Rosehip oil is good for aging, mature skin. Great antioxidant and moisturizer but I only use around the eyes. Too emollient for me otherwise.
As for layering: AM- C must go on first, then other products. I put the Relax on last because it is not affected by other products. I use the moisturizer over it because the hyaluronic acid in the Relax. is a good "booster" for moisturizer.
PM- If I use Retin-A, I don't put anything over it. However, I don't use it near my eyes, so I go ahead with the EyeBright and a moisturizer after that.
The Nivea CoQ10 eye cream can be gotten from any drugstore. The Retin-A is an Rx only product but there are strong retinols (lindasy.com)that you could use without an Rx., too.
Sorry so long...hope I answered your questions. |

I have some parts of my "eye routine" just where I want it, but would still appreciate suggestions on an eye cream that can help reduce puffiness and smooth out that sort of half circle area under the eye.
I don't have problems with dark circles, so nothing needed there.
I was told just last week that one shouldn't use the same moisturizer that you use on other parts of the face.... on the eyes as it will cause puffiness.
My puffiness is just below the eye and seems to have come on in the last few years. I suspect it has something to do with the natural aging process, but I have also had rather severe allergies over the past couple of years, so that can be a factor too.
I have seen herbal eye creams that say they will reduce puffiness, but haven't tried any.
I was using an eye cream called Revive that was formulated by an Austin Dermatologist, but I confess I ran out and have just not stopped long enough to replace it, so have lately been using a very light amount of my day or night moisturizer as a substitute. Should I not do that?
My AM routine is cleanse, being very gentle with the eye area. Second I use a mineral preparation that is a water consistency. Next, my ES 10% argireline serum and wait about 5 min. Then I apply my day moisturizer very lightly.... or eye cream if I have it.
PM cleanse, mineral preparation, an anti-aging serum with herbals, last, I mix just a tiny drop of my firming masque and my 10% argireline ES serum and place that on my eyes above and below. I'm a big guinea pig for my own products, but that masque/serum mixture has been working for me. My theory is that it provides a slightly firm protective coating around the eyes and when I sleep on my side or other things that might cause wrinkles, that area is firm enough to resist the wrinkling. Plus, the argireline is good for existing wrinkles and for preventing new ones.
I do notice that several of you have mentioned using a Vit. C cream on the eyes. Perhaps I should be doing this too? Is it being used for lightening dark circles or for wrinkle prevention/firming?

Hi Judy,
I was reading on Makeup Alley quite a few post about Castor Oil being very good for the puffiness under the eye. Cator Oil is used as a laxative to rid one of waste matter. So could it be good under the eyes? They say you should not get it from drug store but a health food store. I beleive they said "cold processed." Might have the cold processed thing wrong but they do say health food store. I have never heard of this before.
I will have to do some reading on this. Any thoughts????? |

Hi Sats,
I'm adding my vote for the Murad Essnetial-C eye cream. It's by far the best SPF eye cream that I have tried so far. In terms of the PTR, if you do have dryish skin then I would say you'd probably need to put something over it. Cellcosmet is a wonderful choice and it's one cream that I will continue coming back to. If they'd make a version with SPF then I would be in heaven!
Eye Bright is also good although I do not find it moisturising enough. I'm happy to use it under other creams though as I do like the product. I also think that vitamin C serums are important. I am currently using a Cellex-C vit C eye serum but when it runs out I will be switching to Skinceuticals or Vivier (probably Vivier). I'm finding that the Cellex-C has gone orange on me really quickly!
I also like to do masks around the eye area, just to help the skin out a bit. I've got Thalgo and Phytomer masks that I regularly use around the eye area (about once a week or more if I'm sick or doing many late nights). |

Actually I have some castor oil from the health food store. I'm sure it's cold processed, but will have to look to be sure. I can't remember what I bought it for (not laxative), but I had read in one of my health magazines that castor oil was very good for....???? so I bought a big bottle. I've got enough of it for about 5 years, just using it on the eyes. Actually, I wouldn't use it that long as I'm sure it has an expiration date, but just had to make that funny.
I'll try it out and report back! I'll be your guinea pig!

My fave is the cream but I also have the Ultra Complex gel. I haven't used the gel much but have used it under the cream a few times. I would say that the cream would be good for your skin type. However, I know that some EDS members that have really dry skin have used the gel and the cream over it to get enough hydration. |
