Ok, I'm just on my 3rd day of using Obagi Nu-Derm and I noticed that my acne and blackheads are coming out. My husband thinks Obagi purges out all impurities that's why I have these zits (I so want to get a facial now!). My face is also itchy I want to scratch it.
I'm using the Transformation Starter Set. I use Retin A (0.025%) with Blender at night.
Should I stop, or is this a normal reaction? How long will this last? My son's birthday is in 4 days, I don't want to have acne all over my face when entertaining guests! |

It is very normal, and your husband is dead on. Your skin is purging. How long it lasts depends on how much "stuff" you have to get rid of! As for your son's birthday in 4 days, I would say just stop everything right now, and start it up again after your party. |

You're welcome, thelastmuse! BTW, once you are on the system fully, and you have an event, you can stop the products for 2-3 days prior to the event and then pick back up right after the event (just for future reference!). Just be aware when you do that, that you will be needing to take longer than the 18 weeks, ok? |

Hang in there! My skin did EVERYTHING during the 18-week Obagi program: got red, dry, flaked like crazy, broke out, and was super shiny at times.. but keep with it! I'm now on my second cycle of the full program (6 months on, 6 months off, and I believe I will use Obagi for the rest of my life. My skin has never looked better!
So don't get discouraged and stick with it because the quirky skin side effects are totally normal and the results are absolutely worth the temporary trouble |

I'm on my 2nd week of using the Nu-Derm system. I couldn't find tretinoin 0.10% or 0.05% so I'm using 0.025%. Perhaps I should order something strong than this because I'm not really peeling.
I'm still breaking out-- I've never had so much pimples and blackheads in my life-- It's very discouraging but I have complete trust that everything will be clear eventually.
I'm taking photos of my face everyday and it's amazing how some parts have cleared and have become shiny. |

give it a few more weeks, thelastmuse, to see if you will peel with the 0.025. Sometimes it takes a few weeks before the peeling starts. If you don't have peeling by the 4th week, then you can up your %. |

Are you measuring the stuff out and using the correct amounts? I am just wondering because I didn't see that question asked yet. |

Hang in there! It is normal for you to purge with the Retin A. All the bad stuff is coming to the surface. You are best to keep using it daily and just let it run its course. If you stop it and start it, the cycle of purging might continue even longer. I think the % you are using is fine for you, and you can always up the dosage later. Eventually the acne will stop and you skin will be clearer than you ever imagined. |
