As titled. I noticed an increase in breakouts on my face these days. It's not the time of the month and the only change I made to my skincare routine is added CellularSkinRx Vit C serum and the PSF berry antioxidant serum.

I don't think the PSF serum will cause breakouts so I'm thinking that it might be the Vit C serum as some members here said that a C serum might cause clogged pores.

So my question is, anyone here using the CellularSkinRx Vit C serum makes their skin breakout? Thanks! Smile

I can't answer your question, but just to let you know that Vivier does not cause blackheads with exception of the vitamin E formulation serum.

I'm thinking it's the E, also. I just got Skinceuticals Phloretin CE from ebay, and not only does it sting my face but also gave me some clogged pores. I got this one specifically b/c it's for oily skin. Grrrrrr.

Hi, tsjmom.
SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF contains vitamin C, ferulic acid and phloretin - there is no vitamin E in the formulation. HTH. Smile

well, the one I'm using is CellularSkinRx Vit C serum and it contains no Vit E. I wonder if it's the Butylene Glycol that's causing clogged pores.

Thanks for correcting me. I think I got the E and ferulic mixed up in my mind.

Uhh, so now what's my excuse? Wink

Hmmm...did a google check on comedogenic attributes of butylene glycol. On a zero to ten scale, it rates 0 in some sources and up to 3 in others. Most seem to rate it as a very low source of potential acne.

Having said that, I think some people here have suspected Vitamin C serums of causing blackheads.

I would try dropping it for a bit and seeing if that helped. There are other formulations that ou might try--Skinmedica has gotten good reviews here, so if you aren't sensitive to silicones that one might be worth trying.

I agree with that recommendation. Most people who couldn't tolerate the watery Vitamin C serums fared better with the Skinmedica one.

This is just a thought, based on my own experience, but might help..

When I first started using vitamin C serum (cellbones actually) I got a few blackheads around my nose and chin... I believe it was because I applied it too liberally, and didn't massage it totally in... We all know how easily LAA oxidizes, and I believe if a film is left, it will oxidize it and cause the *blackness* in the pores..

Since I started making my own serums this has not happened even once. I believe it's for 2 reasons; 1. I know it is fresh, and 2. I use sparingly and completely massage in one section at a time..

Hope that helps!

I did use CellularSkinRx before and it is more oily compared to Vivier. I use Vivier 5% for my eyes and face now because I want a moderate amount of Vit C on my face since I also applied other products. Actually, I found out that Vit C can dry my skin after couple days of using it. I usually used it every other day to prevent dryness.

Depends on your age. If you're under 30 I don't think Vitamin C serum will really do anything but cause breakouts. It might be too active for young skin.

Hi baby, u really think so? So does that mean when I'm over 30, I probably won't break out even if I tried the same brand of Vit C again? But interestingly, my younger sister who's 23 is using La Roche Posay Active C 5% and she's not breaking out....so I guess it varies among different ppl? Confused
