I was just diagnosed with Rosacea.
I began noticing very tiny small pimples all over my face. It wasn't normal since I never get pimples or acne and if I do I used to get one, once a month.
I don't have the "all over" redness, just tiny pustules all over, mostly on my jawline.
My question for all Rosacea sufferers is....Do you think it gets worse over the years??
I'm only in my 20s, I've been given topical creams to control it. It doesn't look horrible now, and it's not something I can't live with, but I worry that it's something that only gets worse and more complicated over time.
Is this true? What do you all seem to think is best to control it?? There are a few creams out there, I just wanted to know which one people seem to like best.
thanks |

Hello ...
Don't despair. I was diagnosed with early stage mild rosacea ten years ago and not only has mine not gotten any worse -- it has improved.
My doctor prescribed Noritate cream for me and for six or seven years, I used it religiously. Now, I only use it now and then, although there's nothing wrong with using it every day. (For example, sometimes I know I get a little too zealous in my exfoliation and I will use it to ward off a flare up. Also, if I am using a new product that I am a bit worried about reacting with my skin, I will use the Noritate in a supportive way.)
I believe the key to controlling R is using a prescription cream (like Noritate) and also learning and respecting what your personal triggers are (such as alcohol, spicy foods, etc.). You also need to be conscious in your skin care not to deal too aggressively with your skin and also not to use harsh products that might aggravate it and cause you to have a flare.
It sounds like you caught yours in the very early stages, so that is great. So, don't worry, really! I know how you feel, though, because I worried, too, when I was diagnosed. (And, I do get complimented quite often that I have beautiful skin, rosacea notwithstanding.)

I have exactly the same scenario as you since Jan of this year. Just little bumps or tiny whiteheads along my jawline. No flushing etc. My derm thought I have acne rosacea. Since I have extremely reactive skin, my derm didn't want to start off with any topical. She prescribed oracea, a low dose doxy once a day. I was on it for 3 months and got less bumps so I went back for a recheck. She added topical noritate once a day. I stopped getting bumps 3 weeks after starting the noritate
Unfortunately I got a bad cold and sinus infection and now my skin is bad again.
Wish you the best of luck and find the rest med for your face. |

I have the same problem, tiny whiteheads, some itching but hardly any redness. The derm gave me a RX for metrocream. It helped me, but I have to be so careful about the products I use on my face. Right now I'm using Yonka cleanser and Cremes 83 and 11. They have helped with the pustules and itching.
Be gentle with your skin. Don't use harsh products.
I think stress also adds to my skin problems. |

I am 51 and was diagnosed with rosacea in my twenties.
If I could pick one thing that is most important ~ it would be sun protection.
In my case, the broken capillaries increased over time; I think better sun protection would have prevented many of the broken capillaries and the increased redness of the complexion.
Use gentle products ~ be careful and try to avoid acids, etc. Glycolic acid (AHA) products really did not work for me.
I don't think rosacea will get worse over time, if treated properly. |

Hi. This board seems to have stopped but I would appreciate hearing from others who have dealt with rosacea. I am 57 and have mild rosacea, no pustules, just broken capillaries, which is a drag as they make the middle of my face look red. I tried Glycolic acid and like others said it made the capillaries worse. I saw a dermatologist but don't want to have laser treatments. Any useful tips or products to use would be appreciated. Thanks. Harriet |

i have just read on the other thread a number of people who have rosacea and have it under control now or better dont have it anymore They are using the whole of 302 system products and those are the results they are seeing. Using this line you have to eliminate other products which have acids etc. Just have a look at thread and see if the system is for you

the thread is quite long...and before starting its important to get a consultation so you get the products from the line which treat your problem areas better and return your skin to a healthy state |

When I had rosacea I went to the doctor, he gave me cream and it helped. It's only come back one time (I think due to stress and winter weather conditions). They say to avoid spicy food, but I slowly reintroduced spices into my diet because they are healthy. I try not to use any products with mineral oil or other ingredients that clog the pores. It's very important for the skin to breathe. |

Harriet, can I ask why you don't want to have laser treatments for the broken caps? I actually am just starting to look in to the laser option.
ETA: Justin from ZO Skin Health said a K product might possibly help (though the best option was tx by a derm). Here is the product he recommended:

Hi Rileygirl. I guess I am afraid that laser treatment will damage my skin or give a bad result. (plus it is costly and can be painful and needs to be repeated and not sure of long term implications). I get nervous...had some dental work that was largely cosmetic and had to have it corrected..very painful and costly and since then I find myself thinking a lot before I would consider another invasive procedure. My wish is for a cream, serum etc. that would work. and I should clean up my diet a bit. Are you considering lasers? Harriet |

I am considering the laser, harriet. I am hesitant, as well, due to the reasons you listed! I hate the broken caps, though. They really give my skin an uneven appearance. Finding a derm is a pain, too, as it is hard to know who is really good! |

Unfortunately there is no known cure for rosacea you just need to control the "triggers". Avoid high heat, sweating, stress, spicy foods. IN terms of products I recommend eucerin which has an anti-redness line made for rosacea sufferes. |
