what can I do with it? I bought this thinking to make up a body cream recipe that I had, but it requires too many ingredients, and I know I won't be bothered!
Can anyone recommend a simple way to use this stuff? Am I right in thinking it has to be whipped before it can be used as a cream?
I also have camellia oil, coconut oil, olive and castor oil and essential oils if its useful :S |

I use a carrier oil..like organic rosehip oil..(or whatever oil you choose..the oil can have essential oils in it or not..or be a combination of oils..like rosehip. tamanu, hemp)...massage it in well..and then put a small amount of the shea butter in my palms..warm it in my palms..and apply it over the oil(s)..and massage well again...it's a very simple method, but especially good forvery cold, windy weather. |

thanks - using it straight kind of appeals to me, I wasn't sure if shea butter always had to be whipped to use it!
Thanks for the recipe havana, i think i will give this a go if I can't use it up fast enough the way jasmineyrosey mentioned |

I use mine straight. I have whipped it with oil, and that works fine too. Interestingly enough my shea/oil mix went rancid, but my original chunk of shea is still fine. |

FkyFly do you mean can shea/oil mix be used as a lotion or cream?
Personally I would consider it a cream if you mix 50/50 since it is pretty thick.
Straight Shea (the kind I have from GOW is the harder but less expensive kind) is like a block of refrigerated butter, and is not a cream or lotion. When using this straight, I take a small chunk of it and rub it over face and skin, the heat of my skin dissolves the shea. I probably would not have started using shea like this - but I got laid off and ran out of money. But it actually is very easy and my skin likes it ! Straight Shea keeps my face and body skin moisturized many times for 24 hours. Not on my hands though, I need to reapply. |
