Just the Clear by it self will make you peel.
Keep in mind that one of the main goals of Nu Derm is "Out with the OLd" which means TONS of exfoliation. Almost every product in the line faciliates that to some degree. Clear contains Lactic Acid to help accomplish that, and the Ascorbic Acid may help as well. |

this is my second round with Obagi (tried it a couple of years ago) no peeling at all the 1st time.
however, this time, it doesn't appear that i will stop peeling...
i suppose it depends on the condition of your skin and your tolerance to the products
good luck |

hey london,
you were holding out!
didn't know about the peels. I just got my very 1st peel 2 days ago.
WOW!
I did 9 weeks of Obagi, then the glycolic.
most of the peeling seems to be done, and i really like what lies beneath!
do tell Londongirl, how quickly do you resume your Obagi after a peel? |

hello isa09!
I was doing a series of glycolics b4 i started obagi as well so i have just continued
My skin is loving it once you get to the forth peel you wont stop looking in the mirror i think im the winner of britains next top model
I have never really got anything more than light flakes on the peel even though its a strong peel MD forte 70%
I use obagi once a day it says women of colour should do that but im thinking of twice a day? are you on once or twice a day?
so after i use the peel i then put on a mask and and face cream
then the next day im back to obagi |

I wouldn't do it twice a day as there are certain side effects from hydroquinone that are only seen in darker skin types. Not to scare you, but your skin can turn blue/grey in some areas. It is called "exogenous ochronosis". It occurs sometimes in long term use of Hydroquinone at high dosages. When I say long term I mean, usually several years with concentrations higher than Obagi, like 6-8%. However it has been reported in smaller percentages too, very rarely. Anyways you don't need to be paranoid about it but it is something to be mindful of, so if I were you I would follow the recs just to err on the side of caution. For some reason it is rare in the US but occurs in epidemic proportions in South Africa, and no one is really sure why! |

LondonGirl,
i do the whole line twice a day
Clear & benzoil peroxide, exfoderm, sunfader in the morning and
Clear, blender, retin A at night, i had some serious blemishes to lighten which are pretty well faded at this point.
I just got my first peel last week
my derm said it was a mild peel,
when i looked in the mirror, my cheeks looked like there were on fire...
had some significant peeling w/n 24 hours
looked great on day 3 (a little red)
painfully shrink wrapped on day 4, and started peeling again on day 5 which was yesterday...
my pores look great, but looks like there may be some backtracking with the pigmentation. more peeling yet, so i will have a better idea in a few days i guess.
did not dare resume the obaji before today
I will reassess in a week...not sure if i want to go through that again...i have been indoors since last Wednesday |

I have been on Obagi since the second week of October and I still get some peeling. Not nearly as much as when I first started but I still get it mostly around my mouth and chin. I notice that it is especially prominent when I don't do the RetinA for a few days and then do it back to back for a few days.
I love the results so far with the system. I look forward to maintaining them.
I just fear for the summer and if my spots come back. |

Thanks isa09 how do you find the sunfader? is is white?
I have a spf 40 here that is white but i have to put lots of powder on it to take away the whiteness of it
but now i am a lighter shade my old powder makes me look like i have a tan or something i look very brown with it on |

thanks amonavis i have heard what you are talking about normally in africa they mix a lot of the skin care with mercury and like you said very high doses of HQ
the instructions do state for dark skin once all over then in the evening only on dark spots
I have only been doing it once all over in the day time and not doing a evening application |
