I want to purchase Retino-A, but I don't know have many tubes to order. How many applications do you get out of a 20 gram tube?
Thanks for any help. |

Hi, Lucy.
I was using Retino-A from AllDayChemist on my face, around eyes, on neck and chest (decolletage). I got approximately 30 applications out of a 20 g tube.

Unfortunately, I had to stop using the cream after about 2.5 months because I started to lose my hair. I could not tolerate the tretinoin. I believe this is a rare side effect and that most people can use it without problems though. |

once opened, a tube of retin-a should be used within 6 months, so that should be considered as well
that said, i only use a small red bean sized amount, so its more than enough to last me 6 mths |

I find that my microgel which is also a 20g tube lasts me about a month to a month and a half, although I don't use it every single night, but every other night, simply because my skin does respond to it, but it can get iritated by the new strength I am on..... but interestingly enough the studies done on tretinoin did have its participants using it every night for up to a year. I think the longer term benefits come from its long term usage, but if like Septembergirl you experienced one of the side effects, then your better off stopping usage and going to either a lower strength or even trying a retinol product. Retinol products are not as strong as the Retin A, but they deliver the same results in the longer term.

| For those that have used Retin A, how long did it take, before you started seeing results? |

| The doctor in the UK yesterday asked me to use the Obagi Trentino the first joint of a finger. Twice a week, then three times a week, gradually increase the frequency. |

I saw results within a couple of weeks with Retin-A, but when I recently switched back to Tazorac I saw results literally overnight. My skin just had a different glow to it. Of course, I completely overdid it and used it every night for a week and now I'm paying for it...my skin is finally finished peeling, but it's really really tight and needs to be slathered with emu oil. I feel like I had a facelift! LOL |

That is good to hear, I hate waiting months to see results, because then you feel as though the time and money was wasted. |

Me too. If I can't see result in two weeks, usually I will give up use it. I am using Trentinon now and I can confirm the acne is gone in three-five days. |

| With any Rx it's best to wait about two months to see results. I use the Retin-A micro gel 45 g tubes and have gotten about 3 or 4 months of use from one tube. It didn't help my acne at all, I have other more effective prescriptions for that because mine's hormonal. But it's fantastic for fading red marks and plumping scars after a bad breakout, and my 25 year old hide looks about 16. I love it =) |

Sario,
How long have you been using retin a? Also, where do you order yours from or is it doctor prescribed? |

| I've been using it since April 2008. It's doctor prescribed so I get it from a pharmacy here now, but before my insurance plan kicked in last summer I bought it online from friendlyclinic and united pharmacies. All told it was actually cheaper buying it from overseas, but I had to wait forever for it. It's worth the extra couple dollars now that I have a cheap copay to get it the same day. |
