This is a really basic skin question and I'm kind of embarrassed to ask but....
How can you tell if your skin is dehydrated?
I've had oily, problem skin all my life. It seems to be a little less oily now than in my younger years and with the use of Decleor products and cutting dairy products from my diet the blemishes are a lot less frequent.
However, at the moment I seem to have a consistently dry, flaky chin and nose. I've banished gel cleansers from my bathroom as they tend to dry my skin out more. I'm trying out Dermalogica Ultracalming Cleanser at the moment and even that leaves my chin and nose slightly dry.
I'm wondering if maybe my skin is dehydrated and that is why none of the cleansers I'm trying at the moment (creams, milks etc) are stopping the skin on my chin and nose from flaking.
Do I need a stronger moisturiser? Or is it just a case of trying to drink more fluids? I must admit I'm pretty bad at consuming liquids during the day. I exfoliate regularly but this doesn't seem to be helping.
How can you test for dehydrated skin? |

I get the same thing sometimes, and then I get good about drinking my water and it goes away..then I get bad and it comes back...
I found that i can also get that way when i use the ylang ylang oil from decleor so now i only put it on as a spot treatment and on my forehead...
I've got weird skin... |

What a dilemma you face! Finding a cleanser is not always easy! Based on what you have described, however, I will advise that you try the following products: Yonka Cleansing Milk followed by Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant, Yonka Lotion Normal-Dry, Dermalogica Active Moist, mixed with Skin Hydration Booster. |

Hi, Toe! I have almost the same problem as you, but my skin isn't quit so oily. I have dehydrated combo skin. My favourite cleanser is Babor 2-step cleanser, Hy-öl and phytoactive combination. It removes makeup and dirt very efficiently, and still leaves the skin soft. It doesn't dry the skin, but leaves no oily residue either. Over time this cleanser has normalised my skin, so I hardly have any problems with oily t-zone any more.
It is worth a try, and don't let the fact that it's oil scare you off |
