I have been using differin gel for about 10 years every night. I have tried to wean off of it, but every time I do my skin breaks out badly. Differin gel has done wonders for my skin. But, I often get migraine headaches, and strange auras that seem to get worse especially with bright lights. And now, it's like I always have a little headache. I have always lived in sunny areas. I wear sunblock, but I am worried that longterm use with differin could be doing me harm, afterall, there there does not seem to be much research on longterm use.. and also I will be wanting to become pregnant in a few years.. so I'm just wondering what side effects people have noticed with long term use of differin gel. I'm trying to switch to less toxic ways of treating my acne, but it is very difficult to stop this miracle working differin gel! So, anyone please tell me if you notice any strange things happening to you. And maybe some LESS TOXIC acne treatments that actually work on really bad acne. Thank you so much if you can help me on these questions.
One more question: is anyone but me suspicious of the use of these drugs longterm??? when there is virtually no studies on what it does to us longterm?? It is in our blood. It does give rats cancer when they are tested with it (not even in high doses). Does this worry anyone but me? And should we be forced to use these chemicals on our skin just to be beautiful? Differin really makes my skin clear and I wish there was another answer.... thanks. |

| I just started using Differin so I don't know about long term effects. I use it on my brown spots. Do you use it for spot treatment or the whole face as a prevention? |

| Oh that sucks! Well, if I were you, I'd call my derm up or go see one, and ask if he knows of any side effects from using Differin for a long time like in your case. If he doesn't know, I don't know if anyone here would. Also maybe you can try google search on this topic and see what comes up. Good luck! I know how frustrating dealing with acne could be. |
