I'm 47 and need to address the lines under my eyes. I have dry sensitive rosacean skin and was shocked to find i tolerate Avene Eluage just fine even under eyes and in fact it has done great things (along with Finacea in the a.m.) for my skin!! I've been using it nightly for 1-1/2 months now. BUT..it seems in the last week my under eye lines are becoming more pronounced!!! I know one can go through a worsening stage but i thought that was just flakey's, dry patches which BTW i've never had with Eluage. I do use moisturizer too but wait over an hour to apply and use SS and moisturizer in the a.m.
Only thing that has changed is using Neutrogena visibly firm night cream w/copper peptides in the a.m. in the last couple weeks.
Ingredients:
Water, Ppg-2 Myristyl Ether Propionate, Pentaerythrityl Tetraethylhexanoate, Glycerin, Cetyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Butylene Glycol, Hexdecyl Stearate, Cyclopentasiloxane, Canola Oil, Squalane, Butyrospermum Parkii, Polyacrylamide, Glyceryl Stearate, Copper Tripeptide-1, Allantoin, Nylon-12, Cyclohexasiloxane, Alginine, Peg-75 Stearate, Ceteth-20, Steareth-20, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Laureth-7, Tocopheryl Acetate, Xanthan Gum, Bht, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Butylparaben, Isopropylparaben, Isobutylparagen, Fragrance.
YIKES, help. Is this just a stage i need to muddle through? Is it the copper peptides in the Neutrogena product??
Or is there something better i can use to specifically attack the under eye wrinkles, lines? Thanks for bearing with me, i'm pretty new to all of this. |

Welcome, susiek! I don't think that the Eluage is the cause of the undereye lines. A lot of folks here have found that copper peptides can cause problems under the eyes, at least initially. Search here for "the uglies" and you'll find a lot of experiences here where copper peptides have been associated with crepey and liney skin. For some, it's been an initial and temporary problem, and for others it's been a deal killer.
You'll find lots of good advice and comparative experiences here. Best of luck in dealing with the eye problems. |

crickey!! that's what i thought, i think that's why i avoided copper peptides long ago. No ,not worth it to me.
I'm wondering about what is the best thing besides SS to use under the eye to actively combat lines, crepeyness in the a.m.?
I know, $64,000 question.
Thanks so much for responding. |

If the copper peptides in the Neutrogena are what's causing your problem, and you've have good results with the Eluage, then I'd stop the Neutrogena and keep on with the Eluage.
I've heard that it can take quite some time to get rid of "the uglies", though, unfortunately.
One of my bugbears is undereye lines, too. There are a number of eye cream recommendations in the forum to help with this. I'm trying one of them at the moment - it's by Karin Herzog. If it does help to diminish the appearance of those lines, then I'll be shouting about it from the rooftops of the forum! I must say that, despite having used it for only 2 days, the undereye lines are actually looking slightly softer already, which has quite shocked me. I'll report back after I've used it for a few months, to give it time to work.
Another forum member, bushy, has praised Neocutis eye cream. That's also on my list to try.
Finally, I shall soon begin Loulou's Ageless facial exercises (reviewed in the DIY forum) as that's supposed to help to firm up the muscles around the eyes. |
