I'm a bit confused..
I've always stuck to one or two different skincare brands at the time, and for long time as well.
Since I became more active in this forum, I got into many different ideas to implement to my skincare regime. I want to try out for me new different brands.
However, I start to wounder how good results I can expect, when I mix many different kinds of skincare products, If i use for instance the Dr H CC,and not the recommended face water, instead I use my regular that perhaps affect the result of the cleansing cream..?
Do you mix all sorts of brands,or do you mostly stick to one or twice at the time..? |

Many lines will say that it is best to use their products to get best results. I personally use products from many lines. I give products a try from each line and keep the ones I want and then move on. For me I don't think it matters. Everyone is different though. |

That is a great question and I am frequently torn about it. I think it is better to use most of a line so you don't undo the good effects of the products. ie. Dr H doesn't believe in stripping the skin so AHA would not be good. If you mix lines you could be getting too much of some actives or they could be cancelling each other. I think the better companies have designed a system which takes into account the various ingredients and their complementarity. But when not seeing the results one wants it's hard not to try other lines and it gets expensive. I try to keep the cleanser, toner, masks etc to one line and then may use other products on top. I'd love to hear what others do. |

I agree w/Kdd. I use several brands to achieve what I want.
on your hair: do you use only one product line or several? Again, I use several different ones to achieve the look and feel I want.
I love Viver 20% C serum but cannot give up my B Kamins face wash.....all these things help keep my skin to not break out. |

I think it is mostly a marketing ploy when brands make one think that it is necessary to only use their line in order to get good results. I mix brands in skincare and haircare all the time. |

I use several brands, I dont think I have 2 things from the same brand actually.
IMO 1 brand does take care of all needs, dont be fooled into thinking you need to use products from 1 line. I use to think this a long time ago and much happier now that I dont stick to 1 brand. |

I agree with you all, I don't think it's necessary to use all products from one line. I always mix it up. |

I ALWAYS mix! Life would be so boring it you never try new stuff!
That and I still haven't found any HGs for me... Plus, the EDS forum doesn't help either |

I use the same brand on basic skin care. As to eye cream, I use other lines. |

I always mix different brands - sometimes because I just happen to like toner from one brand but moisturizer from another, but sometimes just because I want to try some new stuff. |

I use produts from several different lines and have good results with this approach. I think with lines such as Dr. H that have a very particular approach, it might be best to use a few products from the line. But, what I have learned from the EDS forum is that everyone reacts differently. |

I agree- I use several lines - I have my favorite cleansers, vitamin c serums, face oils and not all are from the same line and I think my skin looks great. |

I mix stuff all the time. It's easy to mix cleansers, toners and moisturizers, but it's harder when you start introducing Vit C, A Niacin, and other actives. Sometimes they might cancel each other out or cause problems for skin. Sometimes I use one brand in the morning and another in the evening. |

Yes, of course. It's a little bit hard to be loyal to only one brand.
Now, I use Elizabeth Arden, Estee Lauder, Clinique, Kiehl's, Shiseido, La prairie and Cle de Peau Beaute, Avene, Benefit, and others
OMG, over 10 brands.. a little bit crazy.
Later I will try to persuade myself to focus on 1-2 brands. |

Haha, I agree with you, absolutely!
In fact, a company may have its super star. So I always like to buy the most popular products. That's why we need to mix the stuff together. However, we need to pay attention no to stimulate our skin. |

i have ever mixed many brands, but this has made my skin become sensitive,i think the reason is that the ingredients from different products conflict with each other. |

I completely agree with you. I also mix products all the time and have no problems with that. |

I agree. A lot of doctors say there is no such thing as sensitive skin (apart from actual skin diseases) and we make our skin sensitive by what we put on it. In that case it could be useful to stop using everything except a gentle cleanser like Cetaphil and a basic moisturiser on dry areas until the skin gets back to normal. I've done that a couple of times over the years when my skin has acted up. |

I use to use only one brand but I realise that there is no perfect line. A company cannot excel in everything. They might have nice cleanser and moisturizer but toner full of alcohol !
So that's why I think that its better to get the #1 product from each line to achieve the best results for our skin.
I work in the cosmetics for about 10 years and when the sale rep. tell you that you should get all the product from the same brand because they work in synergy and bla..bla...bla...its not true. Its just a way to sell more and to keep the customer to one brand... |
