Has anyone used the TCA at home peel of any percent? |

I have used 12.5% in single and double layers. Purchased from makeupartistchoice.com (I always get peels from them). |

I have used the TCA Complex from Perfect Complexion. This is a slower peel and I like it, but I'm getting impatient and really want to do a deeper peel and get it all over with. |

I've used the 12.5% in 2 layers and got flaking rather than peeling. I didn't go for the frost though as it was my first at home peel and didn't want to push my luck. I got mine from Platinum Skincare, but I have heard some say that the peels from makeupartistchoice are stronger. Less buffered I think.
I'm dermarolling now and will leave the peels for much later down the track. |

I'm sorry, I posted the wrong website, this is what I purchased

It's really good for many things. It's a light general peel. When I use it, it really tightens my skin up for a few days, so I like to use it a day or 2 before a big event
You will start peeling though. Really good for my chin which has larger pores and gets clogged up sometimes. It will give my whole face more of a glow too. I plan to use it every other week, but I'm not good at keeping it up. The owner of the company claims if you do consecutive peels you will slowly peel away many layers of skin damage. I don't doubt this is true, I just have not been consistent with it, my own fault.
I think it's a good place to start for your first TCA peel, that way you can get a feel for how your skin will react to TCA and move up from there.
I actually removed a brown spot over my eye by layering the peel on that spot with a toothpick. I think I did 3 layers, 10 mins apart. It peeled for a couple weeks, but it's gone and hasn't come back |

Lori, why was it that you had to use a toothpick? |

Sorry, I'm really goofing up lately. I meant a Q-tip or Cotton Swab. That was to keep it on that spot and be able to hold it there a bit |

Oh i see! I was thinking a toothpick would have taken forever to cover a spot, but thought maybe you were on to something! |

I did an 18% TCA peel from Makeup Artists Choice (MUAC) Sunday night and it has been 6 days.
You're supposed to prep for a TCA with retin-a and hydroquinone but I didn't.
I did do a series of 50% glycolic acid peels (about 4 of them 7-10 days apart 6 weeks ago) but they didn't really help. If anything they caused a cystic break out along one side of my cheek that still hasn't totally gone away.
This was my first TCA peel. I did only one layer because it's my first. There was slight frosting in certain places (like where old acne was healing) but not much beyond that. My peeling has been light and gradual. I can still wear a little make-up and I look strange this week (kind of shiny but dry) but I could have gone to work. It didn't require downtime.
Next time (in 6 weeks) I'll do 2 or 3 layers of the 18% and see if I can get a deeper peel. This one has lightened some of my acne marks but they are still there. I feel like a deeper one would have been better.
In the meanwhile, I might wait 2-3 weeks and do some spot peeling on some of the darker spots. |

Hello! Some of you have mentioned doing "spot peels" on certain areas of your face. I'm just wondering how these have worked for you? I just did a 25% TCA peel on my hands a few days ago -- 3 layers and so far nothing has happened. The skin looks a little tight and dry but that's it. I don't want to do my entire face (I'm doing Obagi Nuderm right now) but there's a few spots I wouldn't mind touching up. Thanks for the help! |

Hi Kims, I was waiting for your report back on your peel!!
Can I ask you a couple of questions?
a. What did you clean your skin with, prior to the peel?
b. You said you did 3 layers... how much time did you wait in between layers?
c. Did you see any frosting?
These are all for now... I hope I'm not bothering you too much :S
All the best,
Josee |

Hi Josee,
I cleaned my hands with an alcohol-based toner, and I waited 3-5 minutes between each layer. I didn't see any frosting, but the instructions suggested stopping after 3 layers -- so I did. I'm a little flaky right now, but that's it. Maybe next time I should be more aggressive?? I guess I'm learning as I'm going! Thanks for the help! |

Hi kims... I did a TCA 30% yesterday on part of my hand to see what I would get... it burns! I don't know how on earth I'll have the courage to put that on my face... I think I'll need some numbing cream :S
I did get some frosting as well... I only did one pass because it was my first time and I didn't want to over do it. Here is a link to my hand's picture... did you also get this whitish thing? Hand pic
Did it burn when you did it?
All the best,
Josee |

Wow, Josee! I think your hands look perfect! Your skin is amazing! I'm not sure I would even consider a peel if my skin looked like yours. I'm so jealous!! My hands are doing ok. They have been peeling and it's impossible for me not to pick at them. And I know you're not supposed to! No major changes, though. I think one stubborn sun spot has lightened considerably, however. They just look really red and dry right now. I don't think I'll do another peel until the Fall when we have cooler weather. I might just do a spot or two with a q-tip. I bought the Obagi hand kit so I think I'll just keep using that for the summer. |
