Thanks for the reply Kay.
"I think you add the vodka to help dissolve the LAA as it takes forever in H2O"
O.o
Is this true? Do you think LAA crystals are the best option or it's just easier/cheaper to get?
(sorry if this has already been answered, I've read so many posts it's all just a blur right now) |

Hi bento,
The crystals I bought are fine in water. I add 1tsp to 2oz of water in a small spray bottle. I then shake the bottle for a good few minutes (it normally disolves very quickly anyway) and I never have any problems, it always disolves completely.
You can buy LAA powder though. I would have myself... but here in the UK I found it really hard to find any LAA, and the only one I could find was the crystals (https://www.yourhealthfoodstore.co.uk/details.php/p1160_solgar_vitamin_c_crystals_pure_l_ascorbic_acid.html) |

Hi just a quick post... can anyone else get on the Female First Stretch Marks!! thread?
I can get the links to come up in Google and when I search for 'stretch marks' on the search on that forum, but when I click the links I get this message: The requested topic does not exist.
Maybe it's just my browser, or the forum having difficulties... |

i'm having the same issue with the female first forum, and i'm pretty bummed about it. this week i decided to start going back and literally reading every single entry that has been posted through that five hundred page forum. i was on page fifty, so much information lost that i'll never get back! in the beginning of that thread there were posts about how there had been another thread, earlier, that had been deleted... im thinking maybe they deleted this one as well.
what jerks. |

Well if you both are getting the same thing, then I should imagine it has been deleted.
That's not good, there was A LOT of info throughout that thread and now it's all gone.
Why on earth would they just delete it!? |

I have now started posting in the other stretch mark thread that is on there... looks like it's round 3! lol. Although, I prefer this thread as it's dedicated to the treatment I am currently trying.
Maybe the thread will come back, I read in an earlier post in the other thread that it came back. Either way, there's not alot we can do. Im just glad this thread is here and the other Derma Rolling thread too. |

Hi,
I'm not sure where you are from, - but I'm sure most places you need a prescription to get hold of the Retin-A. So most people have bought it from here (including me)
The shipping can be high to some, but if you stock up on the Retin-A (or any other products you want), then I think it's well worth it. I bought 7 or 8 tubes when I ordered mine.
Is the roller you are buying from eBay a Dr Roller? I think you should purchase one of these... I think they are the best, and alot of other people will recommend them too. Rather than the other cheap ones, that are likely to break or the needles to bend etc. |
Thanks for the link! Where did you get a hold of Vit A & C then?
And yeah, it's going to be a Dr Roller - if I'm going to spend money on this it might as well be the good stuff lol.
If my stretch marks are grey (ugh, horrible color) does it mean that they're in the process of healing or already healed? Will rolling improve the color of it? |

I bought my Retin-A (if that's what you mean by Vit A) from (here is the actual link right to the product)http://www.alldaychemist.com/drugs/Retin.html
I bought my Vit C crystals online from here:
https://www.yourhealthfoodstore.co.uk/details.php/p1160_solgar_vitamin_c_crystals_pure_l_ascorbic_acid.html
I'm not sure as it can depend on the individual. Either my marks are pink/purple or white. I do have ome old ones that are a silvery colour though, so perhaps the ones you describe may have already 'healed' and are no longer 'fresh'.
To be honest, I'm not sure if rolling has any effect on the colour of stretch marks (if they are no longer pink)... but I think most people on here are rolling old (white) stretch marks, so maybe they will be able to tell you if they had any change in colour. I can't really answer as I have only rolled one area 4 weeks ago. The marks are still there though and to me they look worse in certain lights than they did before. But, if any improvement will happen it's obviously going to be after a few more rolls spaced at least 4-6 weeks apart. |

Basically you pass a roller with very small needles over the area with stretchmarks. The needles puncture the outer layer of skin and wound an inner layer. The skin regenerates, etc. and with enough repetitions the stretchmarks should fade away.
But there's more to it. You can see what I plan to do on page 3 of this thread. I haven't started rolling yet, damn roller takes so long to arrive...
Start reading this read, then go to the following link and read the previous posts to get all the info.

It's making me nervous that 2 people so far said the rolling made their SMs worse.

Maybe initially. I haven't seen anyone post that they are worse after several rolls and months.
What I'm really concerned about is if these Dr. Rollers are sterilized. |

Can't you sterilize them yourself? Pour alcohol on it, or dip it in alcohol?> |

Hi Penta,
Don't panic! ... I was one of the people who said mine look worse. But, I cannot say whether that will be a permanent thing.
I have only done one roll in that area so far, it's now been 4 weeks since the roll. And I 'think' the other person who said hers got worse also only did one roll.
I will be rolling that area again, because I am determined to give it a go - I'm determined to believe my marks 'looking worse' is temporary too... |

don't do anything that makes you nervous... there are 100's of people that are rolling, including myself, and I haven't had a problem. Just take your time and do the reserach. don't rush into anything |

yeah I plan on doing that, but even then if it did not come sterilized I'd be kind of reluctant to poke myself with it. |

OK, so it was 4 weeks yesterday since the roll on my left thigh.
I haven't been applying my Vit C Spray for a good 2 weeks (I think), and I haven't applied anymore Retin-A for about a week now (because of irration).
The discoloration, redness and dry/crusty skin seems to be clearing up. I'm now just left with bruises that are yet to go.
When I look at the area, I cannot really see any of the vertical stretch marks (that I rolled)... but now the area is covered in horizontal stretch marks. So I have no idea what has happened. Obviously there is no way a stretch mark can turn a 45 degree angle LOL , so I must have 'developed new stretch marks' in that area since the roll, but they are horizontal ones instead.
In the exact same area on my right thigh are the same kind of stretch marks (my body is pretty much symmetrical when it comes to my stretch marks). They are vertical, like the ones I rolled on my left thigh. No new horizontal ones have formed... so it's a mystery to me what has happened to my left thigh. I have no idea what is going on.
I will roll again, but I am waiting for the bruises to go. I'm just glad it isn't an area I'm that bothered about and that I will never show off either way. I'm glad I did this 'test area'... rather than going straight into rolling the marks on my arms etc.
So my personal suggestion is to anyne who is worried about rolling for the first time... why not do a test area first just to see how your skin reacts etc. |

Hi guys
I have just done my first roll and am using vitamin c and a vitamin in the form of retinyl propionate serum @ 1%
I will be buying ingredients to make my own serum soon and was wondering if I could make my own vitamin a cream also. I live in Australia and can only seem to get Retin A if I have a prescription, also if anyone has success getting a Retin A product through Australian customs please let me know:)
Anyway does anyone know what the most effectives vitamin a are and if there is anywhere that sells the ingredient for a DIY.
Skinactives have retinyl acetate powder and was thinking of giving that a go also.
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated
TIA
I would also like to thank P girl for starting this thread for stretch marks as I have them everywhere due to weight gain. |
I'm in the same boat---damn weight gain. Now if only the dermaroller would get rid of all the fat as well!
Have you tried ordering the Retin-A from All Day Chemist? I would think they can ship to Australia and get it through customs since they seem to have no problems in other countries. BTW, are you a huge fan of Missy Higgins?!! LOL...I LOVE HER! Y'all are so lucky to have "made" her!
Okay, back on topic...I buy my L-ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) fromwww.makingcosmetics, though I'm sure you can find it other places...maybe even somewhere in Australia. I chose L-ascorbic acid for some reason, though I cannot for the life of me remember the reason. It was something I read on the Vit. C DIY thread. I'm glad I chose it. It's so easy to make. Just mix with some distilled water in a spray bottle and spritz it on.
HTH! |
Thanks Pgirl for all your information.
I was able to get Retin A from All day chemist so thats a huge bonus.
Oh yeah I agree Missy is very talented and we are lucky to have her, not completely into her style of music though myself
Thanks again:) |

hey kay...do you use any numbing agent? gosh i just tried rolling again..this would be a third time but it hurts so bad i'm literally sitting there crying...i did my boobs this time and it's the first time for my boobs as well....the retin a and l-ascorbic acid is irritating the hell out of my skin...especially the cleavage area...it's actually givign me some fine lines there i guess because of the drying of the skin...i did notice that the areas where i have the discoloration...the marks are a lot less noticable...i'm wondering if it's the discoloration that's covering up the marks....
by the way, where is our friend p girl? |

I'm still here shygirl. I've been trying to keep up with the posts, but haven't had the time to post myself.
Have you thought about backing off of the Retin-A and Vit. C for awhile and then starting back with a few days of break between each use?
I'm giving my skin a complete break for awhile. I haven't rolled or applied topicals in a month now. I'll probably start up again soon and tackle the remaining depth/width on my arms.
Also, have you tried ice for numbing? It does help some, but it's a real PITA. |
